Howdy Llano & Llano County! (Posted 1/10/26)

If you can, take a moment to step outside! It feels awesome!

But, with the cold front that has come through, there are very dry conditions and a lot of dry fuel in the Texas Hill Country.

We are not in a burn ban yet, but it wouldn’t be prudent to do any outdoor burning today. Our area has already had a few small fires in the last couple of days that could have been a lot worse.

The Castell VFD presented Mr John “ Johnny Boy “ Schuessler with a cutting board for his many years of help in support of the Castell BBQ as he has helped BBQ since 1979. We also auctioned off a quilt made by Mrs Betty Tuckness.

On behalf of the Castell fire department, we wish to thank everyone who came out this evening to our 50th annual Castell VFD BBQ. We could not do what we do if not for the support of the community! We want to thank all of the people who took time to volunteer and help us put on this event thank y’all again and we hope to see you again next year!
