So honored to have had the privilege of this amazing group of people at our facility today guiding us through the real life hardships of reentry.

We want to extend our sincere gratitude to the individuals who courageously shared their lived experiences.

While we understand that no simulation can fully capture the challenges, barriers, and emotions that many people face when returning to their communities after incarceration, your willingness to bring authenticity, vulnerability, and honesty to this experience provided an invaluable insight for the professionals in attendance. This simulation allowed participants to gain a deeper understanding of real life obstacles individuals encounter in areas such as housing, employment, transportation, family reunification, and accessing essential needs.

Most importantly it reminded us that every person has a story, and that empathy, dignity, and opportunity are critical components of successful reentry.

We are grateful for the lessons you shared with us! Coastal Horizons Center

What an amazing day we had yesterday at our garden rededication ceremony. For those that have been following, you know we have spent the last several months working alongside our partner program Kids Making It to complete several garden beautification projects. With their support as well as several staff members working on individual projects with kids, we have completed the following: built small memorial garden boxes and hung them on the garden fence, painted decorative garden pallets to brighten up the space, transformed the garden entry steps with stain and custom made mosaics with kids, built an arbor and swing, completed a fun mosaic base under the swing, built large flower boxes, painted the concrete wall, painted the garden picnic table, painted a mural on the garden shed, and added a new garden sign to our garden entrance. It has been quite the journey led by our dedicated Mrs. Ami and wow what a difference it has made in our space! Enjoy the pictures below and an extra special thank you to Kids Making It staff and mobile workshop!
