Here's an interesting historical find. An article described a party held at the Hammar House hosted by Mrs. Isabella Hammar. We have what we believe is the original pedal organ and stool described in this article. We also have a songbook that may have been used at this party. A holiday at Hammar House usually means another restoration project off the list. Here, we restored the original historic cellar staircase which had been disassembled long before we purchased the house. The original treads were, thankfully, safely stacked in the cellar. Views from the cellar up, main-level down and the restoration credit (Kim, Mitch and Bruce).

In keeping with our pledge to restore and re-purpose all we can, we have finished building and installing our floor cabinets for Hammar House. We built these using a custom wood box kits then cladded them with historic wood from Hammar House. The doors are from the original potato bins and were present in the house when we bought it. We restored the potato bin doors using authentic milk paint and wax and added Walnut counter tops. The cabinets are designed to be moved and are not permanently affixed to the historic walls.
