Accessing Interstate 25 in southern Castle Rock just got a little easier.

While not all interchange ramps are open, the Crystal Valley interchange project has reached another major milestone, with the opening of the first northbound I-25 on-ramp from the Crystal Valley Parkway/East Frontage Road roundabout.

Now, motorists can access northbound I-25 from Crystal Valley Parkway, improving regional mobility and helping reduce congestion in the southern portion of Town. Scheduled for full project completion in 2027, the ramp opening provides early access to the interstate.

Continued construction progress may allow the project to finish ahead of schedule. For now, as ramps and other portions of the interchange are completed, the Town will open them to traffic as soon as it is safe to do so.

Drivers can access the new northbound I-25 on-ramp by traveling through the roundabout at Crystal Valley Parkway and East Frontage Road, then continuing westbound on Crystal Valley Parkway to the on-ramp. See the map below.

This project is a collaborative effort among the Town, Douglas County and the Colorado Department of Transportation.

🇺🇸 Celebrate Independence Day with live music, pie, family activities and a high-flying fireworks display as Castle Rock marks America’s 250th birthday in true hometown fashion.

The Town of Castle Rock’s Fourth of July celebration takes place from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4, as a signature part of America 250 – Colorado 150 festivities. Head to Festival Park for live entertainment, food trucks, face painting and other activities before capping off the evening by enjoying a celebratory fireworks show.

The celebration kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with a performance by the Denver Dolls and plenty of family-friendly fun. Live entertainment continues throughout the evening with performances by The Castle Rock Band at 6:45 p.m. and Thunder Roads at 8 p.m. To help residents celebrate this year’s sesquisemiquincentennial, the Town will be giving away fun America 250 – Colorado 150 branded items, including light-up star wands, grocery bags, temporary tattoos, stickers and more throughout the evening.

The annual Pie Bake-Off will take place on Perry Street from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Amateur bakers, both youth and adult, are invited to sign up to showcase their skills and compete for bragging rights, while the first 100 visitors to the bake-off tent can enjoy a free slice of pie. Awards will be given for first, second and third places in both the adult and youth categories for fruit and nonfruit pies, and winners will be announced from the stage at 6:30 p.m.

Find additional event information, including Pie Bake-Off entry details, at CRgov.com/250150Events.

🎆When the music wraps up, turn your eyes to the western sky. At approximately 9:30 p.m., a three-shot salute will signal the start of the Town's professional fireworks display. The 20-minute high-flying show will launch from Miller's Landing, which is off Plum Creek Parkway, just east of Philip S. Miller Park, to light up the night, weather and fire restrictions permitting.

The display will also be visible from up to 3 miles away; recommended locations include Downtown Castle Rock, Metzler Ranch Community Park, Philip S. Miller Park, Rock Park and parts of the Red Hawk neighborhood. Those viewing from neighborhoods or business parking lots are reminded to respect private property and follow posted parking restrictions. Parking along major roadways is not permitted.

Find additional fireworks information, including information on safe use of personal fireworks at CRgov.com/Fireworks.

In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks show will be postponed to Sunday, July 5. Please check the Town’s Facebook event for updates. If Stage 2 fire restrictions are in effect, the display will be canceled.

We know how passionate exercise enthusiasts are about the Challenge Hill, so please note it will be closed this Saturday morning for a good cause.

The Challenge Hill and trails at Philip S. Miller Park will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, for the Town's Climb4Change event. This is the only event that closes the Challenge Hill and it raises money for our Therapeutic Recreation program, so we appreciate everyone's understanding.

Can't miss climbing the Challenge Hill Saturday morning? Great news, day-of registration for Climb4Change is available; just show up Saturday morning and sign up! Find out about all the race events at CRgov.com/Climb4Change.

If you'd rather find an alternative to get your stairs in, try the Incline Trail at Rueter-Hess (13930 Ancestry Drive, Parker)!

June is heating up, Castle Rock!

While the weather outside is beautiful, temperatures inside vehicles can become dangerously hot in just minutes, with tragic consequences. According to NoHeatstroke.org, an average of 37 children in the U.S. die each year after being left in hot vehicles. PETA also reports that more than 100 pets die from heat-related causes in vehicles annually. These tragedies are heartbreaking, but they are also 100% preventable with simple precautions.

As temperatures continue to rise, Castle Rock Fire And Rescue Department would like to remind everyone to help keep children and pets safe in vehicles by keeping these important reminders in mind:
- A child’s body temperature rises three to five times faster than an adult’s and can become fatal when their core temperature reaches 107 degrees Fahrenheit
- In just 10 minutes, the temperature inside a vehicle that is not running can increase by 20 degrees Fahrenheit
- Cracked windows, water or even air conditioning may not provide enough protection
- Help prevent accidental tragedies by leaving a reminder in the front seat when traveling with a child or pet, such as a shoe, stuffed animal, leash or dog toy
- If you're running errands, leave pets at home or ensure children are in the care of another adult

If you see a child or animal alone in a locked vehicle, call 911 immediately. A few minutes can make all the difference. Please help spread the word and keep our community safe this summer.
