April is the Month of the Military Child 💜

Military families carry a unique weight. Children grow up adapting to change, navigating uncertainty, and supporting those who serve. They deserve spaces that recognize that experience and help them move forward with confidence.

Heroes Hall is being built in Douglas County to serve more than 27,000 Veterans and their families with access to health, education, employment, and community support. It will bring together The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Douglas County Veterans Monument Organization, and Douglas County Veteran Services in one central location.

That support extends to children and youth through scholarships, leadership programs, mentorship, and community-based opportunities. Programs like Boys State, youth essay competitions, and scouting partnerships help create real pathways for growth.

As Heroes Hall takes shape, future programming will include student engagement with military history and opportunities to hear directly from Veterans, helping connect generations and strengthen the community.

This Month of the Military Child is a reminder that supporting Veterans includes supporting their families and their future.

For many veterans, getting help is more about navigation than just figuring out eligibility.

Forms. Phone calls. Conflicting information. Being told “that’s handled somewhere else.” Or worse — giving up because it feels overwhelming to even start.

That’s the reality for too many veterans trying to access the benefits they’ve earned. Part of the reason Heroes Hall Foundation exists is to help change that.

By bringing four major Douglas County veteran organizations under one roof — the American Legion Harry C Miller Post 1187 Castle Rock, Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW, the Douglas County Veterans Service Office, and the Douglas County Veterans Monument Foundation — Heroes Hall removes obstacles and creates options.

Different needs require different paths:

🔵 Help navigating VA benefits
🔵 Emergency assistance or short-term grants
🔵 Support for housing, education, or healthcare
🔵 Simply talking to someone who understands military life

Start your conversion here with us. And we'll guide you from there.

Follow this page to learn how Heroes Hall is making support easier to access, and share this post so veterans and their families know help doesn't have to be so complicated.
