April is the Month of the Military Child 💜
Military families carry a unique weight. Children grow up adapting to change, navigating uncertainty, and supporting those who serve. They deserve spaces that recognize that experience and help them move forward with confidence.
Heroes Hall is being built in Douglas County to serve more than 27,000 Veterans and their families with access to health, education, employment, and community support. It will bring together The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Douglas County Veterans Monument Organization, and Douglas County Veteran Services in one central location.
That support extends to children and youth through scholarships, leadership programs, mentorship, and community-based opportunities. Programs like Boys State, youth essay competitions, and scouting partnerships help create real pathways for growth.
As Heroes Hall takes shape, future programming will include student engagement with military history and opportunities to hear directly from Veterans, helping connect generations and strengthen the community.
This Month of the Military Child is a reminder that supporting Veterans includes supporting their families and their future.
