July 2026 Activity Report is in. Steady month for sure.

Now if you'll excuse us, we heard Myspace was going to be making a comeback, so we have to spend some time prepping our social media presence for that platform.

ARRESTED: James A. Jennings, age 51, of Castleton on Hudson, was arrested following an investigation relating to his status on the New York State S*x Offender Registry.

On Thursday, July 30th, 2026, Schodack Police arrested Jennings following an investigation regarding his failure to register certain internet identifiers and online accounts. Jennings had failed to notify the State S*x Offender Registry of his creation and use of a multimedia messaging/social media app (Snapchat). Such notifications are mandatory for all individuals on the New York State S*x Offender Registry.

Jennings was remanded to the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility without bail.

This investigation is ongoing.

-Muitzeskill Road between Van hoesen Road and 9J is closed indefinitely
-9J between the Village of Castleton and Knickerbocker Road is closed

UPDATE: OPEN at 4:01 PM - Kingman Road is now open

UPDATE: OPEN at 9:50 AM - South Old Post Road

UPDATE: OPEN at 9:26 AM - Brookview Station Road

UPDATE: OPEN at 9:17 AM - Clove Road

UPDATE: OPEN at 9:10 AM - Schodack Landing Road between Funk Road and Muitzeskill Rd.

UPDATE: CLOSED at 8:46 AM - Kingman Road is temporarily closed for repairs

See below for an update on the road conditions in town. Big thank you to the Town Supervisor Charles Peter for putting this update together:

Over the last 24 hours we have experienced nearly, if not more, a foot of rain.

We are still getting a full handle on the full extent of the damage but as it pertains to Town Roads, the following are what we know of.

Closed Indefinitely: Simons Road

Closed for what we assume will be at least until tomorrow and we can fully assess potential damage:
Clove Road
Sagendorf Road
South Old Post by the Schodack Valley Firehouse.

Closed due to remaining standing water:
Brookview Station
Shufelt Road.

Roads that are open but have a lane closed:
Kingman Road
Graw Road

There also remains several County and State roads that are closed and many places in Town where there is some amount of standing water on the road surface.

Please exercise extreme caution if you have to drive tonight.

There are some sandbags available at the Schodack Highway Garage if you need them.

We expect to see areas around our creeks, especially the Moordener and Muitzeskill but not limited to those, to continue to see flooding conditions for the foreseeable future.

ANNOUNCEMENT: The Town of Schodack has declared a state of emergency. Restrict travel as much as possible. Numerous roadways are closed within town. Roadways closures are too extensive to list and some roadways will likely remain closed for extended periods of time.

Should you see standing water on any roadway, DO NOT attempt to pass. Seek alternate routes.

The American Red Cross has declared a national blood crisis, and donations are at their lowest summer levels in years.

If you've been meaning to donate, then please consider. It takes about an hour, and you're rewarded with a delicious cookie and some juice. Honestly, who wouldn't go above and beyond for cookies and juice?

Are you Type O? Then you deserve two cookies and some juice. They need Type O donors that badly.

Seriously though, for those of you who donate regularly, thank you. You're heroes in your own right, and your generosity has saved more lives than you'll probably ever know.

If you've never donated before, now's a great time to start. Someone you may never meet could be counting on it.

Announcement: Schodack Police are actively investigating a suspicious fire that occurred on Schodack Drive at around 3 AM this morning.

Residents should expect to see increased patrols in their neighborhoods. As always, we ask residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to Schodack Police by calling 911 or 518-477-8077.

BACK4MORE actually….

Yeah. That’s his name. Officer BACK4MORE. This salty veteran is back and ready for speed calming action!

BACK4MORE has had a lengthy career here at SPD. He likely has more time on the job than most of our human officers. From his lengthy service, he ended up with more rust than paint, lots of squeaks and rattles …and frankly… he was looking into peptide therapy, Botox, and maybe even a trip to Turkey for a full makeover…

But the Chief checked and that’s just not in the budget. We have a helicopter to save up for…

We recognized Back4More’s need for a bit of a vacation and took that time to clean him up and prepare him to serve our residents again. BIG thanks to Officer Chapple for doing all the hard work!

We quickly realized that Officer SLODOWN was not meeting community demand. With the return of BACK4MORE we can now serve more locations for longer periods of time.
