The Fire Danger Forecast for April 9, 2026 is MODERATE to HIGH.
From the US National Weather Service Burlington VT: Dry and breezy conditions are expected across the region today, leading to near critical fire weather conditions in the Champlain Valley. Southerly wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph are expected, with locally higher gusts possible. High temperatures today will climb into the 50s and low 60s. Conditions will be favorable for any fires to quickly spread should any fires start.

The Fire Danger forecast for Vermont is VERY HIGH for all areas today.
The NWS has issued a Special Weather Statement today for low relative humidity and gusty northerly winds. This combined with the very dry fuels will cause fires to be difficult to control. Open burning is not advised
