CONSTRUCTION UPDATE - PAVING BEGINS NEXT WEEK
Traffic Impacts: Next week, drivers should expect construction work in Castleton and Fair Haven from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Traffic control will include single-lane closures with flaggers and short delays as needed. Shoulder closures may also occur intermittently.
Motorists should slow down, use caution, and pay attention to road signs while traveling through the work zone.
Construction Activities: In Castleton on Monday and Tuesday, crews will adjust drainage structures and sewer manholes in preparation for paving scheduled for Wednesday through Friday.
In Fair Haven from Wednesday through Friday, crews will adjust drainage structures and sewer manholes. Additional work may be scheduled next week as the contractor finalizes its schedule.
All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
Location: Improvements will be underway along Vermont Route 4A in Castleton and Fair Haven, including in downtown Fair Haven.

Class 1 paving in Castleton on VT- 4A from mm 2.762 to mm 3.858.
Project Location: Beginning in the Town of Castleton on VT Route 4A (Main Street) near the intersection with Sand Hill Road and extending easterly for a distance of 1.091 miles and ending just before bridge No. 7.
Project Description: Work to be performed under this project includes coarse-milling, resurfacing with a leveling and wearing coarse, pavement markings, signage, and other related highway items. This project is part of a larger contract with the Fair Haven STP PC25(2) Class I resurfacing project. It is anticipated that all work will occur during day time hours.
Project Timeline: Construction will begin the spring months of 2026 and will end in fall of 2026.
