Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery will hold a National Day of Service event on September 12, 2026 to honor and remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and recognize the sacrifices of our military, veterans, first responders, and their families. Just wanted to share this volunteer opportunity provided by Homes for our Troops. The date is September 11th, 9am at a location near Potranco and 211. Volunteers will be doing some landscaping and clean up.

Note, the flyer attached shows Loma Alta Middle School but the event is also being held in Castroville at Medina Valley Middle School, from 6-7pm, Wednesday, August 19. Great opportunity to show up and support your local teachers and students!

Post 128 has requested the Freedom 250 Mobile Museum to visit Hondo. Hopefully they will schedule a visit! In the meantime, you can visit the Mobile museum at the following locations:

-Port Aransas, on 9/10–9/14, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM;
-Dallas, on 9/25–10/18, Open times TBD;
-Cypress, 11/9–11/10, 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM; &
-Dripping Springs, 12/1–12/6, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
