This Potato’s library is located in Oro Valley - off Tangerine and La Canada at Loma del Desierto Park and also includes a kindness rock spot at the base of the library.

Today's A Mighty Girl Community Pick is in celebration of Kamala Harris' historic vice presidential victory: "Kamala Harris: Rooted in Justice" by Nikki Grimes. Kamala Harris' immigrant family gave her deep roots and, from the time she was a baby in a stroller at civil rights marches, instilled in young Kamala the importance of fighting for justice. As a lawyer, district attorney, and US senator, she has faced obstacles and failures but has always kept her sights on her goals and being a person that others could call on for help. In this captivating picture book biography, author Nikki Grimes tells Harris' story through a conversation between a young girl and her mother, exploring the formative moments of Kamala Harris' life and how the lessons from her experiences can apply to everyone. As it reminds kids as the end: "Kamala Harris is still writing her American story. And so are you." Highly recommended for ages 5 to 9.
