Yesterday at the end of the year celebration for Catawba County Schools, Catawba Rosenwald was proud to have three individuals representing our school on the stage. First was Justin Hawkins who was voted on by the school staff as the Teacher of the Year. Next was Brenda Knight who was a finalist for Classified Employee of the Year. Finally, Carol Johnson was named as a finalist for Bus Driver of the Year for the county. We were thrilled to be able to cheer them on when they were recognized. Great day to be a Cobra!

Today the last buses pulled out of our parking lot for the final time, and with them years of memories, laughter, challenges, friendships, and moments that have shaped so many lives. While the hallways may grow quiet soon, we hope that the impact of the school will continue to live on in the students, staff members, family, and community who have called it home. It is difficult to say goodbye to a place that has meant so much to so many. While this chapter closes, the memories will last forever and a new chapter will begin at Northstar Academy! 🖤💛💙

Today we celebrate four incredible young men whose journeys to graduation was not always easy. Each of them faced hardships, obstacles, and moments that could have caused them to give up, but they didn't! They kept showing up, kept pushing forward, and kept believing that their story was bigger than their struggles. Both Grover Linebarger, graduation speaker, and Tim Adams, principal, highlighted the difficult path these students had to take but the importance of the accomplishments that they have made.

Their diplomas represent so much more than just completing high school. They represent resilience, perseverance, growth, courage, and strength. These young men have proven that difficult circumstances do not define a person's future. Through determination, support, and hard work, they overcame challenges and reached a milestone that no one can ever take away from them.

We are beyond proud of the people that these young men have become and are excited to see where life takes them next. The road may not have been easy, but they walked across that stage stronger because of their path. Congratulations, graduates! Your perseverance is inspiring, and your future is now.

When Eric EighttwoEight stopped by a few weeks ago, he told one of our students that if she would paint him a beautiful sunset he would come back to visit her. Today. He kept that promise in coming to pick up his portrait created by Takaria. We love it when we see community members keep promises for our students and connect with them by building relationships!

This week we had two special luncheons and a special treat to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week! On Monday, we enjoyed a delicious meal and scrumptious homemade desserts from Mathis Chapel Baptist Church in Catawba. We were also given the perfect chocolate cake from one of our wonderful parents. Then today our Cobra Council served the staff another wonderful meal to show their appreciation for their understanding, encouragement, and effort.

May 4th to 8th celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week across our country. Each day this week, we will be highlighting different departments on our campus that shape the future every day—offering knowledge, guidance, patience, and unconditional support to their students.

Our final group of staff members takes care of our students in different ways. They build positive relationships with students when they have experienced frustration or need some extra guidance. They have to remain patient and consistent when times are rocky. We are thankful that they come in each day with a positive attitude ready to make a difference with our students.
