Please remember to move your cars for street sweeping, tomorrow.

Update: Due to unforeseen circumstances, street sweeping is rescheduled for Thursday April 30th. Thank you very much for your patience.

Thursday April 23rd there will be street sweeping starting at 7:00 a.m. There is no parking permitted on Main Street. It would be greatly appreciated if you can move your car when you hear or see the street sweeper on your street.

The following streets will be cleaned: Main St, Mill St and any others as time allows.

CATAWISSA BOROUGH

FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER

Qualified persons are invited to apply to the Borough of Catawissa Civil Service Commission to take competitive examinations leading to eligibility for appointment as a Full-Time Patrolman for the Catawissa Police Department.

General Requirements:

Candidates, at the time of application must: (1) Possess a diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma (GED); (2) Be Act 120 Certified under the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Act (Act 120), or shall have successfully completed Act 120 Training and successfully passed the final exam, thus being eligible for Act 120 Certification once hired by the Borough; (3) Be a United States Citizen; (4) Be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer; (5) Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age; and (6) Possess valid motor vehicle license and be eligible to legally operate a motor vehicle in Pennsylvania.

Successful applicants must also meet all the requirements of the Borough’s Civil Service Rules and Regulations (that will include a background investigation and if selected, be required to successfully pass a physical and psychological examination.) An application form and details of the selection process may be obtained at the Catawissa Borough Building, located at 307 Main Street, Catawissa, PA 17820. A completed application, with a $25.00 non-refundable application fee, must be filed or sent to the attention of Civil Service Commission at the address above.

There will be a Physical Agility Test ,a Written Examination and, an Oral Examination of qualifying candidates at a time to be determined at a later date.

No Parking on Main Street, Monday February 2nd, 2026.
Crews will resume snow removal at the lower end of town at 2 am Monday morning February 2nd.
Traffic was getting too heavy for the road crew to continue safely and efficiently this morning.
Please make sure your vehicles are moved from the unplowed areas Sunday evening from about N Berger and S Berger down to the river bridge.

There is no parking permitted on Main Street for January 31st, 2026. All vehicles must be removed by 3a.m. on the January 31st. Please be patient, snow removal will be in progress.

At 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17th, 2026 the Physical Agility Test will be held at Phoenix Rehab. Center, 1000 Market Street, Bloomsburg, PA 17815. The written examination will be held at 12:30 p.m. on February 17th, 2026 at the Catawissa Borough Hall. At 9:00 a.m. on Friday February 20th, an Oral Examination of qualifying candidates will be held at Catawissa Borough Hall.
