Today we recognize the retirement of Battalion Chief Robert Williams, whose career with the Cathedral City Fire Department has left a lasting mark on this department and the members who serve within it.
Throughout his time here, Rob served in a number of critical roles, including the department’s EMS Coordinator, one of the department’s original Hazardous Materials Technicians, and helping establish and serving as a Coachella Valley SWAT Medic.
More importantly, Rob served as a mentor, teacher, and steady voice of experience for countless firefighters, engineers, captains, and paramedics over the years.
The fire service is built on knowledge, experience, and leadership passed down from one generation to the next, and Chief Williams spent much of his career helping shape the firefighters who serve this community today.
Sadly, departments change, but experience like Rob’s will not be replaced. The impact of his leadership and the knowledge he shared with this department will continue to be felt long after his retirement.
On behalf of the members of CCPFA Local 3654, we thank Chief Williams for his dedication, leadership, and service to our department and our community.
Congratulations on your retirement, Rob. You leave behind big shoes to fill.
