Wahkiakum County Volunteer Board Opportunities

Interested in becoming more involved and serving your community? The following volunteer boards have one or more vacancies.

** Fair Board – Several vacancies. Meets 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the fairgrounds. Urgent - these applications will begin to be reviewed on Monday, May 18.

** Board of Equalization (BOE) – Meets seasonally, a minimum of 3 times, then as needed. Stipend for meeting attendance.

** Marine Resources Committee – several vacancies, meets the 4th Monday of the month at 5:00 p.m.

** Real Property Rights Advisory Board – Meets the 1st Wednesday of the month, at 3:00 p.m., alternating between locations – Cathlamet and Grays River.

** Noxious W**d Control Board – One vacancy in W**d District #1 – Deep River area. Meets almost every month at 11:00 a.m. in Cathlamet or via Zoom.

Help Wanted – Part-Time Fair Manager

The Wahkiakum County Board of Commissioners is seeking a Part-Time Fair Manager to coordinate planning and operations for the annual County Fair, fair events and fairgrounds facilities.

Responsibilities include marketing and promoting fair events; coordinating vendors and exhibitors, managing budgets and financial records (AP/AR), and managing of seasonal staff and volunteer support. Strong communication, organizational and financial management skills required.

Part-time position with up to 1,046 hours annually and up to 737 hours for the remainder of 2026.

Pay Range: $18.00–$22.74 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces the availability of the Final Environmental Impact Statement (Final EIS) for the Lower Columbia River Channel Maintenance Plan, Final Integrated Dredged Material Management Plan (DMMP), prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act.

PUBLIC HEARING - Upper Grays River Community Forest

Ordinance to create a joint Public Development Authority, with Pacific County and the Columbia Land Trust, known as the Upper Grays River Community Forest.

The Wahkiakum Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 to consider a proposed ordinance for the creation of a Public Development Authority (PDA) known as the Upper Grays River Community Forest. The meeting has a remote Zoom or phone option.

This is a joint effort with Pacific County and the Columbia Land Trust. The proposed ordinance would authorize an interlocal agreement with Pacific County and the Charter for the new PDA entity, which specifies that the Community Forest Board will be operated by a 6-person Board of Directors, with 2 members appointed from each of Pacific County, Wahkiakum County and the Columbia Land Trust. One appointee from each county must be a sitting county commissioner.
