We are very saddened to hear of the passing of District 3 Constable Richard Vanhoose. Please be in much prayer for his family and friends in this time of need.

Please keep District 3 Constable Richard Vanhoose in your prayers.

Richard Lee VanHoose was involved in a severe accident last night around 7 PM and is now in a critical condition. As a highly respected retired Vietnam veteran medic, Richard served three tours, worked in special forces, and later served a tour in Afghanistan in the medevac unit as an E8 First Sergeant. Throughout his life, he has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to serving others. His notable service record includes working with ABG Ambulance as an EMT, serving with the Boyd County Police Department, retiring from the postal service, operating EMTAS to educate numerous EMS providers, and currently serving as the Boyd County Constable for District 3. He has dedicated his life to protecting and giving back to others, and now it's our turn to support him. Richard is receiving treatment in the Burn ICU at Cabell Huntington. Please keep him, our family, and his many friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Our units have been out since approximately 4:30 this morning checking roads, etc. Please be very cautious when traveling this morning. There is still water over the roads in several places. Please do not attempt to drive through any water over the roadway. You do not know what could be lying underneath the water or if the road could possibly be washed out. Also, once the water recedes, please use caution of debris remaining in the roadway. If you need assistance, please call 911. Please stay safe!

Our units have been out this morning and afternoon checking on citizens and roads. This video is US 23 north bound at the county line. The roads are getting worse at this time with the snow that is coming down. Please be careful and allow extra time if you have to be out. Quality Gas located on Lowe Gehringer Road off of Rt. 5 is open 24/7 to fill propane tanks. I was there earlier and they had plenty of propane left. There is a ring doorbell on the office building. If no one is there ring the bell and they will come down from their house to help you!
