Catlin Masonic Lodge #285

Catlin Masonic Lodge #285 Freemasonry has a tradition of serving our communities with various acts of beneficence. The Lodge however has continuously met in the building since 1898.

The Lodge was chartered in 1858 and met in an now demolished building in the downtown area of Catlin from 1858 until 1898. The current building was built by the Masons and opened in 1898 with the Masonic Lodge meeting upstairs and an Opera House downstairs. The Opera House operated until sometime around the great depression, then closed. In the 1970's, a wall was erected in front of the stage and

suspended ceiling was installed on the first floor, thus closing off the stage. The stage and entire first floor was restored and improved in 2008 and the "Opera House" re-opened. The Lodge currently has a total of 163 members.
