UMBC.VisualArts The Department of Visual Arts recognizes ongoing conceptual and technical changes in art and design, Preminda Jacob
Associate Professor and Chair

Welcome
I invite you to explore the Department of Visual Art's website. Our website is constantly updated in order to assist you in gaining the information you need to learn more about the department's programs and activities. As educators, we have evaluated and assessed what we provide to students in our programs, and we present this website as a representation of our collective identity. The Vis

ual Arts website was designed to provide visitors with critical content and a moveable gallery of artwork. The visual material on each page complements a wealth of cultural/campus information and practical academic guidance. While a wide range of users access our website, including prospective students, parents, university administrators, evaluators, peer institutions, potential donors, allied professionals, and employers, we especially want to welcome UMBC Visual Arts graduates as well as current and prospective students. We also want to hear from alumni and feature them on our website. Current and prospective students can envision their own place in the arts and design community when they see our graduates working in various fields, exhibiting their artwork, or running their own businesses. We invite you to explore our programs, get inspired, and then come to the campus to visit our facilities!

Performing Arts Building Dance Tech Room
PAHB 231

The Department of Visual Arts presents artist Laura Heit, a multidisiplinary artist who engages experimental animation, performance, installation, and writing. Screenings include Rotterdam IFF, Annecy, Hong Kong IFF, London IFF, Ann Arbor Film Festival (1997, 2012, 2015), Black Maria, Walker Art Center, MOMA, Millennium Film, and the Guggenheim Museum, REDCAT, Aurora Picture Show, Pacific Film Archive, and others.
