Greene County District Attorney’s Office Press Release
“Field Sentenced to 50 Years to Life”

District Attorney Joseph Stanzione states:

On February 9, 2026, many family members and friends of Adam White and Christopher Gere appeared in Greene County Court for the formal sentencing of Jeffrey Field who was convicted of Murder in the 2nd Degree, Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree and Assault in the 2nd Degree.

Prior to passing sentence, Hon. Meghan Galligan heard victim impact statements presented to the Court, in person, by the following members of deceased victim, Adam White:

Laura Decker (via her daughter Rochelle Wallace) – mother of Adam White
David White Sr. – Father of Adam White
Carrie Strobeck – Stepmother of Adam White

In their statements, they expressed the extreme impact that this senseless murder had upon their family.

Chief Assistant Jeffrey Low, who presented the case at trial, with ADA Krista Kline, made an argument and plea to the Court that the maximum sentence permitted by law would be the only just sentence for Mr. Field.

Defense counsel John Hillman, Esq. countered, arguing that Field was acting under the influence of illegal substances at the time of the murder, so rather than passing a sentence with a notion toward “An Eye for An Eye”, the Court should consider the lowest permitted sentence with an aim toward providing help for Mr. Field by way of rehabilitative programs.

To the contrary, Mr. Field stood up and stated that he was not responsible for what occurred.

It should be noted, that during a presentence report interview, conducted by the Greene County Probation Department, Mr. Field expressed no remorse and had nothing to say to the families of the victims.

Judge Galligan expressed that it is due to crimes such as these, in which a person is stabbed to death only a few feet from his home, without warning, provocation, or reason, that citizens do not feel safe in their own communities and are reluctant to assist others who are in need of help.

Judge Galligan then acknowledged her agreement with Chief Assistant Low by passing the maximum sentence upon Mr. Field as follows:

Murder in the 2nd Degree – 25 years to life + $5,000.00 fine and an Order of Protection for the families of the victims:

Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree – 25 years to run consecutive to the 1st 25 to Life Sentence + 5 years Post Release Supervision (if he should ever be released);

Assault in the 2nd Degree – 7 years + 5 years Post Release Supervision (if he should ever be released).

My office extends its thanks to the Village of Catskill Police Department, New York State Police, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and my entire staff, all of whom contributed to ensuring that Mr. Field was brought to justice and held accountable for the vicious and vile acts committed against the citizens of our community by Jeffrey Field.

Greene County District Attorney’s Office Press Release
After Deliberation, A Greene County Jury
Found Jeffrey Field Found GUILTY of All 3 Counts
Murder 2nd, Attempted Murder 2nd & Assault 2nd

District Attorney Joseph Stanzione states:

On November 24th, 2025, a Greene County Jury recorded a verdict of “Guilty” of Murder in the 2nd Degree, Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree and Assault in the 2nd Degree against Jeffrey Field. Jeffrey Field will now be held accountable for his heinous crimes of the murder of Adam White and the attempted murder of Christopher Gere which he committed on August 22, 2021 while on Summit Avenue in the Village of Catskill. He received a fair trial before a jury of his peers over which the Honorable Meagan Galligan presided in the Greene County Court House. The jury paid strict attention to all of the details of the case and came to a proper verdict. Field has proven to be a vicious, evil person who has no regard for human life. Field should spend the rest of his life behind bars for his despicable actions. I thank the New York State Police and the Catskill Village Police Department for their thorough work on this case. I am proud of my entire staff, all of whom worked on this case; with a special appreciation to Chief Assistant District Attorney Jeffery Low and Assistant District Attorney Krista Kline who prosecuted the case in the courtroom. Jeffrey Field displayed absolutely no remorse for his murderous act. The prosecution will seek a life sentence for Jeffrey Field.

Greene County District Attorney’s Office Press Release

“20 to Life for Carrie Weiser”

District Attorney Joseph Stanzione states:

On November 6, 2025, Carrie Weiser, 36 of Catskill, was sentenced by the Honorable Charles M. Tailleur to a term of 20 years to life for the murder of Scott Myers. She was convicted of Murder in the Second Degree by a Greene County jury on June 27, 2024, for stabbing Scott Myers in the neck in late November 2021. Weiser has serious, serious mental health issues which she has exhibited through her criminal acts, and she showed no interest in mental health treatment.

Scott Myers wasn’t the first person Weiser is alleged to have stabbed in the neck. In April of 2020, another man went to Columbia Memorial Hospital after being stabbed in his neck. He nearly died but was saved by the staff at CMH.

That man refused to cooperate with law enforcement at the time, but after Scott Myers was stabbed to death, the man came forward because he was afraid Weiser would continue in her quest of stabbing men.

In his case, he explained that it was during a sexual encounter with Wesier that she told him she wanted to use her knife to make a small cut in his neck – that it would heighten their sexual experience. Instead, she stabbed him twice, nearly causing his death.

During the trial, defendant and defense counsel chose to allege several alternate defenses such as, “Weiser was defending herself against abuse by Scott Myers,” for which there was no evidence. Defense counsel also alleged “Scott Myers tried to r**e her,” to which there was no evidence, and which Weiser herself denied during her police interview the day of the murder. Then defense counsel alleged “Scott Myers drugged her, so she doesn’t remember anything,” to which there was also no evidence, and to which Weiser made contradictory statements during her police interview. Defense even tried to allege that Scott Myers stabbed himself, to which there was contradictory evidence presented by the forensic pathologist.

My entire staff, together with the New York State Police and Catskill Village Police Department, spent hundreds of hours following leads and reviewing the evidence in this case. My Assistants Jennifer Sandleitner and Monica Kenny-Keff presented our investigation findings to the jury during a trial that lasted over three (3) weeks. We had a dedicated jury of men and women of intelligence who saw through defense counsel’s specious and false allegations, and who handed down a verdict finding Weiser guilty of Murder in the Second Degree, an A-I Felony.

After the verdict, defense counsel calculated a strategy of alleging that Weiser should receive the benefit of a greatly reduced sentence because her criminal act stemmed from the fact that she was a victim of domestic violence. Again, my staff and law enforcement spent weeks following up on these allegations, which included speaking with witnesses, reviewing documents, and listening to jail phone calls. In one of Weiser’s own phone calls from the jail to a friend, Weiser acknowledged that she was never abused at home as a child. Ms. Weiser proved to be quite the cunning individual. She showed no remorse at any stage of the proceedings. She received the life sentence that she earned and deserves.
