💙 Help Us Pack a Little Comfort!

This year, Catskill Public Library is participating in the Great Give Back by collecting items to create comfort kits for individuals undergoing dialysis treatment. We’re inviting our community to help us bring a little comfort, kindness, & encouragement to someone who may need it.

You can help by:
🛍️ Shopping our Amazon Wishlist for comfort items & having your donation shipped directly to the library
📣 Spreading the word!
📝 Writing a note of encouragement
📦 Helping pack comfort kits at our Packing Party

Cards, envelopes, and examples of notes of encouragement will be available at the library.

All donated items will be assembled into comfort kits at our packing party on Saturday, October 17th & delivered to local dialysis centers with help from the National Kidney Foundation.

📚 Summer Reading Challenge Results Are In! 📚

What a summer! 85 kids signed up for our Summer Reading Challenge & together, they read an incredible 33,060 minutes! 🦖🎶

Here's the breakdown:

🥇 Singing Pachycephalosaurus — 9,860 minutes
🥈 Spinosaurus on Guitar — 9,300 minutes
🥉 Velociraptor on Keyboard — 8,500 minutes
🎵 T-Rex on Triangle — 5,400 minutes

And every completed reading log earned a prize along the way! 🎉

A HUGE GOOD JOB to all of our summer readers! Whether your team came in first or last, you helped make this one of our best reading summers yet. We are so proud of all the reading, exploring, & fun you packed into your summer! 💚📖🦕

Did you know that together, Catskill Library and Palenville Library have FOUR book clubs? 📕📗📙📘

👉 Catskill Book Club: We read a rotation of fiction & non-fiction books that are voted on by members. We meet the first Wednesday of every month at the Catskill Public Library at 5 PM. If you are interested in joining or learning more, email us at [email protected]

👉 Sci-fi & Fantasy Book Club: We read, well, sci-fi & fantasy! Members take turns choosing which book to read. We meet the third Thursday of every month at the Palenville Branch Library at 6 PM. If you are interested in joining or learning more, email us at [email protected]

👉 Beyond the Page Book Club: We read classic novels that are voted on by members. We meet on the third Saturday of every month at the Catskill Public Library at 11 AM. Snacks & refreshments are served. If you are interested in joining or learning more, email us at [email protected]

👉 Palenville Page Turners Book Club: We read a variety of contemporary novels. We meet on the third Wednesday of the month at the Palenville Branch Library at 6 PM. Light snacks & refreshments are served. If you are interested in joining or learning more, email us at [email protected]

Learn how to save seeds from your favorite plants! 🌿
We don't have to buy new seeds every year. We can harvest seeds from the plants that thrive in our garden or in our region. We can share seeds with friends and neighbors and the Seed Library!
Come learn about practical tips on how and why to save seeds and keep the circle of nature going.

Alyson Garvey
Aly lives in the village and works in gardens with a "re-gardening for pollinators" focus for the birds and bees.

This program is presented in conjunction with our community Seed Library, proudly co-sponsored by the Friends of the Catskill Public Library & Palenville Branch Library.
