Pembina County has officially declared a fire emergency after consulting with all local fire departments. Burn restrictions are now in effect. All residents are asked to be mindful of the fire danger ratings. If you are unsure, please ask.

⚠️ URGENT NOTICE ⚠️

Pembina County Emergency Management is in the process of implementing a burn ban due to extremely dangerous conditions. A Red Flag Warning is currently in effect for our county.

🚫 PLEASE DO NOT BURN under any circumstances. Fires can start and spread rapidly in these conditions.

We need everyone’s cooperation to prevent wildfires and protect our community. Please take this seriously and spread the word.

THIS EVENING FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR PORTIONS OF
EASTERN NORTH DAKOTA...

The National Weather Service in Grand Forks has issued a Red Flag
Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect
from 11 AM this morning to 9 PM CDT this evening.

* AFFECTED AREA...In North Dakota, Pembina, Eastern Walsh, Grand
Forks, Griggs, Steele, Traill, Barnes and Cass.

* WINDS...West 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 20 percent.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that ignite will spread rapidly and become
difficult to control. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Warming into the 60s today and Sunday. A few isolated sprinkles possible this afternoon. Monday turns cooler once again with chance for showers. Cooler temperatures continue into Tuesday.

This is only a test—there is no emergency. The purpose is to ensure systems are working properly and to help everyone stay prepared for severe weather.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
