FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

At 5:42 p.m., the Cave City Fire Department was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire.

According to information provided to 911 dispatch, the caller reported that a domestic dispute had occurred and alleged that the homeowner’s former girlfriend had intentionally set the residence on fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a working residential structure fire and immediately initiated an aggressive fire attack. Crews worked to quickly contain the fire and prevent further extension, bringing the incident under control.

The incident remains under investigation by law enforcement and fire officials. The information regarding the circumstances leading up to the fire is based on the initial 911 report and has not been independently verified by the Cave City Fire Department.

The Cave City Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Park City Fire Department, Hiseville Fire Department, Horse Cave Fire Department, the Cave City Police Department, and the Kentucky State Police.

Cave City Fire Department Responds to Residential Structure Fire

At approximately 5:42 p.m., the Cave City Fire Department was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof and eaves of the home. Crews quickly initiated an aggressive fire attack and worked for several hours to contain and extinguish the fire while preventing further extension.

No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.

The Cave City Fire Department would like to thank our mutual aid partners for their assistance, including the Park City Fire Department, Hiseville Fire Department, Glasgow Fire Department, Barren-Metcalfe EMS (BMEMS), and the Barren County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO).

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This afternoon, the Cave City Fire Department spent time sharpening our skills through hands on training because staying prepared is one of the best ways we can serve our community when the call comes in.

We’re also excited to officially welcome two new firefighters to our department, Connor Ray and Karissa Waddle. We’re proud to have them join our team and look forward to watching them grow and serve the citizens of Cave City with dedication and professionalism.

Cave City Fire Department Responds to Residential Structure Fire

Cave City, KY (June 11, 2026) – At approximately 11:14 A.M. CST on Thursday, June 11, the Cave City Fire Department responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 700 block of Old Mammoth Cave Road.

Upon arrival, firefighters initiated an aggressive fire attack and worked to contain the blaze and protect surrounding property. Mutual aid assistance was provided by the Park City Fire Department, Horse Cave Fire Department, Glasgow Fire Department, and Hiseville Fire Department, whose personnel played a vital role in the coordinated response.

At the time of the fire, no one was inside the residence, and no injuries were reported to civilians or emergency responders.

The Cave City Fire Department extends its sincere appreciation to all responding agencies for their professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to serving our community. Incidents like this demonstrate the strength of our regional partnerships and the importance of mutual aid in protecting lives and property.

The Cave City Fire Department would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who came out and supported Community Night Out. Your attendance, enthusiasm, and engagement helped make the event a tremendous success.

We are incredibly grateful to our firefighters, police officers, public works employees, City offices, and all the volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to making this event possible. Their hard work behind the scenes and commitment to serving our community do not go unnoticed.

Events like this remind us that it takes all of us working together to make Cave City a great place to live, work, and raise a family. We are proud to serve such a supportive community and appreciate each and every person who played a role in making the evening a success.

🚒 COMMUNITY NIGHT OUT 🚒

Come out and meet your local Cave City Fire Department on June 6th from 5–8 PM at the Cave Area Conference Center!

We’ll have a car on site and a sledgehammer so you can come take some anger out on it from 5-7. Then at 7 PM, the fire department will perform a live mock extrication demonstration.

Bring the family, bring your friends, and come spend the evening with your local firefighters and first responders. We can’t wait to see everyone there!

Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision in Barren County
CAVE CITY, Ky. (May 23, 2026) – At approximately 7:00 a.m., the Kentucky State Police Post 3 received a call regarding an injury collision on Interstate 65 near the 53.2 mile point marker. KSP Troopers responded to the scene. A preliminary investigation indicated that a 2018 Hyundai Santa fe, operated by Aleah Kroger, 35, of Dayton, Ohio, was traveling north on Interstate-65 near the 53 mile marker. While traveling north, Ms. Kroger's vehicle left the right side of the roadway and collided with a semi-truck that was parked on the right shoulder. Two juvenile passengers from Ms. Kroger's vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. Ms. Kroger was transported to T.J. Sampson Community Hospital and then to the Medical Center in Bowling Green where she remains in critical condition.
The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Trooper Grant Robertson. He was assisted at the scene by Cave City Police Department, Cave City Fire Department, Barren County EMS and other KSP personnel.
