📚2026 Back to School 🚌

The Cave City School District is back in session Wednesday morning, August 12th. Be sure you like and follow their pages for updates.

Here are a few reminders:

📌 If a school bus is stopped with red flashing lights, the extended stop sign, etc., you MUST stop. This means when following a bus or meeting one. We have zero tolerance for passing stopped school buses. Please slow down, and pay attention to this.

📌 When the Hwy 167 caution lights are flashing in the school zone with school in session, the speed limit is 25 mph. Please slow down, and pay attention to this.

📌 City streets, particularly around the school, have speed limits between 15 & 25 mph, depending on the street. This includes the entirety of Matlock Rd. Please slow down, and pay attention to this.

📌 The section of School Rd. from Hwy 167 going west adjacent to the elementary school buildings and parking area is one way traffic only from 7:30am to 8:30am, and again at 2:30pm to 3:30pm. You can use Matlock Rd. or Woodland St. - Pine St. to enter and drop elementary students off each morning. Please slow down, and pay attention to this.

📌 The road between the elementary and middle school is a drop off point for the school buses. They have posted signs for no one to enter during the morning drop off and school dismissing in the afternoon. Please slow down, and pay attention to this.

📌 There are two painted crosswalks on Hwy 167 near the schools. One is near the intersection with Terrie Dr. The other is near Drifters Coffee Co., close to the middle school driveway entrance. If there are people at the crosswalk to cross the street, you MUST stop per Arkansas law. Please slow down, and pay attention to this.

School mornings get very busy and traffic gets a bit congested. This doesn’t surprise any of us. Give yourself some extra time in the mornings to get to school, get to work, run those errands, etc. There is no rush worth an accident, injury, or worse.

Again, please slow down and pay attention to all of this. It matters.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Marked Tree Police Department, the family of Officer Trevor Howard, and the communities affected by this tragedy. Officer Howard was killed in the line of duty this morning in a traffic accident.

⚠️ Street Maintenance ⚠️

Please be aware that a section of Christopher St., just beyond Cave City Auto Parts, is currently closed for maintenance. It will likely be closed into the weekend to allow repairs to properly dry and set. Let’s avoid that spot until it reopens.

As of 8:30pm, the Cave City Elementary School safe room is available. Per district rule, no pets are allowed at all, and we expect everyone to show care and concern for the facilities and fellow community members. We thank our local district for use of this facility.

Congratulations are in order!

We want to welcome Dalton Ho**er and Braydin Baldwin back to the community, after spending 13 tough weeks away from their families at the Black River Technical College Law Enforcement Training Academy. A few officers were able to make the drive and attend the ceremony. These two officers graduated with the rest of their class on April 9th.

When you see them out and about again, please congratulate them and thank them for their dedication to Cave City, Arkansas.
