This photo and caption were printed in the Sun Bulletin In the early 1970’s. Thanks to the Tognazzini family we were able to view grandma Lena Tognazzini’s scrapbook that contained many of these articles. We are in possession of a glass negative of the Cass Warehouse and if anyone has knowledge of how to make a copy from it, let us know!!

The Tognini-Ghezzi building is the first property in Cayucos to be formally listed on National Register of Historic Places. It was owned by the original families from 1907-1967 and was built out of concrete to decrease the chance of fire damage. Many past hotels in Cayucos, before 1907 were destroyed by fire.

In 1922 there was an election to approve surfacing the road between Morro Bay and Cayucos. There were 2 lone dissidents of this proposal and according to this article they were not perceived to be worthy of much respect.

Leo Studle worked in Cayucos worked for Frank Tomasini drilling for water and doing pump maintenance. He says in this 1974 Cayucos Breeze article that many Native American artifacts were discovered in the process of drilling for the Boradori’s. Sounds like a lot of shenanigans were going on in Cayucos and Avila. The photo of Boradori’s is not dated but probably taken around the 1929-30 timeframe.

Richard Fishbeck created lots of amazing drawings of Cayucos life. Some of the sponsors of the 4th of July parade, organized by the Lion’s Club, are still with us. Our postcards are always available at the Cayucos Farmers Market and at our museum. We will be open July 4&5 from 11-3, hope to see you there!!!
