Fairview School was located on Toro Creek, approximately 4 miles up the canyon. It was built in 1880 and closed in 1978. The last teacher to instruct at Fairview was Merri Buss Nagano. It was her first teaching assignment, fresh out of Cal Poly. She became the principal, counselor, reading specialist, etc. One of there many adventurous field trips was a hike up Hollister Peak that involved an over night stay in a camper on South Bay Blvd and student involvement making fried chicken for dinner and a Fairview School flag to plant atop the mountain.

Lou and Shenly’s Deli-High was a very popular place in Cayucos for many years. Martin’s bought the business and serves Mexican food and they also continued with some Italian items on the menu. Before it was Lou & Shenly’s who remembers doing their laundry at that location?
