Yesterday, our school community gathered for the first annual Bryan Way Egg Drop, a meaningful tradition established in honor of our beloved science teacher and dear friend, Mr. Bryan Way.

Bryan had a remarkable gift for inspiring curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning. He challenged students to think like scientists and engineers, encouraging them to plan, test, revise, and persevere.

Our 8th grade students carried on that spirit by designing and building creative devices to protect their eggs from a high drop. The entire school came together to watch and celebrate their innovation, problem-solving, and teamwork.

While we continue to grieve the loss of an extraordinary teacher and friend, it was deeply meaningful to honor Bryan in a way that reflected the joy, wonder, and excitement he brought to science each and every day.

The Bryan Way Egg Drop will now be an annual tradition at Cayucos School, ensuring that his legacy of inspiring young minds lives on for generations of Falcons.

Once a Falcon, Always a Falcon.

Cayucos Elementary School is proud to announce the Valedictorians and Salutatorians for the Class of 2026. This year’s Valedictorians, each earning a perfect 4.0 grade point average, are Brooklyn Madonna, Lucy Tyler, and Thad Ridout. Salutatorian honors were awarded to Harper Navarro, Ryan Held, and Lucca Fritzsche, who each achieved an outstanding 3.99 grade point average. All six students have attended Cayucos School since kindergarten.

Throughout their years at the Best Little Beach School, they have distinguished themselves as exceptional scholars, campus leaders, talented athletes, and, most importantly, kind and compassionate young people.“These remarkable students have set an outstanding example through their hard work, leadership, and character,” said Superintendent Jen Gaviola. “Brooklyn Madonna, Lucy Tyler, Thad Ridout, Harper Navarro, and Lucca Fritzsche will continue their educational journey at Morro Bay High School, while Ryan Held will attend Cate School. We know each of these students will continue to thrive in high school, in college, and beyond, and they will serve as an inspiration to future Falcons for years to come.”

Cayucos School congratulates these outstanding Falcons and wishes them continued success as they prepare to soar into the next chapter of their educational journey.
