Cayuga Fire Department

Cayuga Fire Department To protect and serve the citizens of the Village of Cayuga and surrounding areas.

The Cayuga Fire Department is a small, rural volunteer fire department located in the Finger Lakes Region of Central New York. Our department provides fire protection service to the Village of Cayuga, as well as a BLS Ambulance for EMS and a boat for water rescues on Cayuga Lake. With manpower shortages in most volunteer fire departments, mutual aid and good working relationships are more imperativ

e now then ever before. Our department is regularly called out to our neighboring towns in Cayuga and Seneca Counties to assist their fire departments.

Monday training: We were scheduled to have a Battalion water rescue drill in the Village of Cayuga beginning at 6pm. Unfortunately at the same time, a structure fire in Aurora’s district took them, Aurelius, Union Springs, Fleming and EMO to duty there.

Montezuma and Cayuga units remained in service and carried out the drill, performing several evolutions involving removal of mock victims from the water, as well as boat operations.

Several members of Aurelius returned from Aurora to participate in the drill, only to be dispatched to another structure fire, this time in Fleming’s district.

A busy night for all!

Congrats Chief!
