Chittenango Falls State Park

• Historically, Central Region of NYS Parks has opened for the season Memorial Day weekend and this year will no different, albeit with a slightly different operation plan, due to Covid19.
• The park will be limited to 50 percent capacity daily throughout the weekend. Once capacity has been reached. Vehicles will be stopped from entering and only be allowed to enter when another vehicle departs.
• Visitors should come prepared for a brief stay (1 hour or less) as well as have a backup plan to recreate in the event they are turned away if the park has reached the 50 percent threshold.
• The beach will be open, with swimming limited to shallow water only. The Splash Pad at Chenango Valley will be closed. Picnic areas around the beach area will not be available.
• Groups will not be allowed to congregate on the beach and face coverings will be required around public buildings, including restrooms.
• No concessions, fountains or amenities (ball fields, playgrounds, boat rentals) will be available.
• NYS Parks welcomes back our patrons, but strongly urges them to follow the above plan so that everyone in Central New York has an equal opportunity to enjoy our beautiful park system and Memorial Day weekend.

Due to trail repair work being done on the Gorge trail it will be closed starting next Monday May 18th until further notice. The rest of the park and trails will continue to remain open.

Some final shots from below the falls as we usher in the Snow. The Gorge trail is now closed for the season, back trail remain open all winter for hiking/shoeing and skiing. No Snowmobiles. Time to hibernate, see you in the spring.

These are some the best days to experience this great park, on the cusp of another beautiful autumn. Nows the time to come out and visit the Falls and hike the amazing trails. As an added bonus this Labor Day weekend our good friends and neighbors, Empire Buffalo, will be here with delicious prepared local meals (burgers, brats, salt potatoes and drinks) as well as patties for your personal bbq’s. We’ll have our horseshoe pits and bocce balls games for your enjoyment as well. Come celebrate the end of summer with us😊

For those of you that don’t know Chittenango Falls is home to the endangered COAS snail, only place on planet. Please respect our little friends and avoid the urge to go into the restricted areas. We all live downstream!🐌
