Don't cancel your plans; save this post and visit these places instead!

☔️ Visit a museum like the Southern Utah Museum of Art for incredible art exhibits, or the Frontier Homestead State Park for hands-on history and cool exhibits.

☔️ You can still hike (and find new colors in the canyon walls), just avoid slot canyons! Trails like the paved Coal Creek Trail can be great for a walk in the rain.

☔️ Take a scenic drive! We love a scenic drive to the Parowan Gap or through Kolob Canyons in the rain!

☔️ Explore Historic Downtown with a coffee in hand, a treat from a local restaurant, and a walk through local shops. And don't miss the sculpture gardens at the Beverley Center for the Arts!

❄️ The Cedar Breaks Visitor Center will remain open through Saturday! ❄️

If you're planning a visit, please use caution. Roads, parking areas, trails, and overlooks may be icy, and recent high winds have brought down trees throughout the monument. Additional trees may fall without warning. Drive carefully, wear proper winter footwear, dress for changing conditions, and stay alert while recreating.

Winter weather can change quickly at 10,000 feet. Check conditions before you travel and be prepared for snow, ice, strong winds, and cold temperatures.

Stay safe and enjoy the beauty of Cedar Breaks!

We won't say no to some early snow on the mountain! 🏞️❄️

Check road conditions before your day's adventure and adjust plans as needed for early winter conditions. If you're still looking for red rock views, we've included a few suggestions below that are close to town 👇

🥏 Play 18 holes of disc golf at Thunderbird Gardens
🥾 Hike the Red Hollow or Thor's Hideout Trail for great views
🚗 Take a scenic drive in Kolob Canyons (check road conditions ahead)

Fall Color and Area Updates: Here Are a Few Things to Know ❄️🍂

🍂 Our fall leaves at the higher elevations are mostly gone (wind and rain over the weekend), but you can still find fall color in Cedar Canyon and Parowan Canyon, Kolob, and Downtown Cedar City.

❄️ We got snow! The road through Cedar Breaks National Monument (Hwy 148) is closed due to snowfall, and you can see snow on the ground at Brian Head Resort 🥳

🥾 If you're hoping to find fall colors this weekend, we would hike the paved Coal Creek Trail to find fall leaves in the lower canyon. Take a scenic drive through Cedar Canyon to Wood Ranch Recreation Area or through Parowan Canyon to 5-Mile Picnic Area.

We have snow at Cedar Breaks! 🥳

If your travel plans include Cedar Breaks National Monument and Brian Head today and tomorrow, we encourage you to check current conditions and be prepared for rain/snow.

❄ The Cedar Breaks Visitor Center is closed today due to inclement weather; visitors are encouraged to postpone their visit.

❄ Expect snowy/wet conditions in areas like Brian Head, Parowan Canyon (Hwy 143) and Cedar Canyon (SR 14). Check UDOT cameras before travelling, and be prepared to change your plans if needed.

If you are in the area and now need a new plan for today's adventures, we've got you covered! Send us a 💬 and we can brainstorm together or stop by the Cedar City Visitor Center at 581 North Main Street.

Due to heavy snowfall and hazardous road conditions, the Cedar Breaks National Monument Visitor Center is closed today, October 12. Visitors are encouraged to postpone travel to the monument until conditions improve.
