Today's the day! π
Be prepared to still see a bit of snow, check trail conditions before you go, and have a great time at our favorite national monument!
We are very excited to announce some important updates for our upcoming season here at Cedar Breaks National Monument!
π Road Conditions
State Route 148 through the Monument is scheduled to reopen today, May 15th, 2026.
π Available Services
The Cedar Breaks Visitor Center, Zion Forever Project Park Store, and Human History Museum will reopen on May 22nd, 2026. They will operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Daily ranger-led programs are scheduled to begin June 1st.
Point Supreme Campground is scheduled to open June 19th.
The flush toilets at the Visitor Center are scheduled to open today, May 15th. Pit toilets are also available at the Picnic Area.
π Hiking Trails
The Sunset Trail and upper portion of the Alpine Pond Loop Trail are currently open.
The South Rim Trail and lower portion of the Alpine Pond Loop Trail remain closed due to hazardous early-season conditions, including downed trees and snow and mud along steep areas.
With the reopening of SR-148, visitors should be aware that Cedar Breaks is located at over 10,000 feet of elevation and that spring conditions can vary. They should expect muddy and uneven surfaces on open trails and recreate at their own risk. Appropriate footwear is strongly recommended. Visitors are encouraged to check current conditions before traveling.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Cedar Breaks National Monument!
