Our mountain snowpack acts like a natural reservoir, storing water throughout the winter. As the snow melts, that water makes its way down the mountain, into our streams, through the ground, and eventually helps recharge the aquifer beneath Cedar Valley.

And how much water is actually hiding in all that snow? That's where SNOTEL and Snow Water Equivalent (SWE) come in.

USING WATER TWICE

Reusing treated water helps conserve valuable culinary water.

Water infrastructure is easy to forget. Much of it is buried beneath our feet, quietly working every day.

Behind it are municipalities, water providers, operators, managers, elected officials, engineers, and many others working together to ensure Cedar Valley has the water it needs.

Working together isn't new to our valley. For generations, Cedar Valley communities have faced drought and water challenges by supporting one another, conserving, planning, and finding solutions together.

Today, our infrastructure may look different, but that spirit hasn't changed.

**We support each other. We plan together. And together, we are working to protect Cedar Valley's water future.** 💧

🌧️💧 **LET THE RAIN DO THE WATERING!**

Did you know that rainwater is one of the best sources of water for your lawn, garden, and landscape? 🌱

Rain falls naturally across the entire landscape, soaks into the soil, and gives your plants the opportunity to use what Mother Nature provides without turning on your sprinklers.

That’s why the (Weekly Lawn Watering Guide) is just that, a guide. Your landscape’s actual watering needs can change based on rainfall, temperature, soil conditions, shade, and your individual yard.

🌧️ When it rains, count it as a watering!

After a good rain, check your soil before running your sprinklers. If the soil is still moist several inches below the surface, your lawn may not need another watering yet.

Even better if you have a (smart irrigation controller or rain sensor), make sure it is set up to adjust your watering schedule when Mother Nature has already done the job.

Every irrigation cycle we can skip helps reduce demand on our groundwater and keeps more water in the Cedar Valley aquifer. 💧

So enjoy the rain, turn off those sprinklers, and remember:
