A great afternoon spent at Southwest Technical College with Governor Spencer J. Cox, Senator John Curtis, Mayor Steve Nelson, and other important figures in , , , and the U.S, to celebrate American Tungsten & Antimony’s announcement of plans to develop a new antimony processing facility in .

The project is expected to generate 400 high-paying jobs, as well as investing over $287 million over the course of the next nine years. It is a great step towards securing American-based resources and reducing reliance on foreign imports for critical minerals.

American Antimony & Tungsten is also partnering with higher education to support workforce development and education assistance opportunities for students pursuing careers in engineering, mining, and mineral development.

Antimony is designated a critical mineral and is used for battery storage, advanced electronics, military purposes, and more. The planned facility for Cedar City utilizes a low-impact method of processing, intended to preserve water and the environment.

Congratulations to American Tungsten & Antimony on this great step towards U.S based mineral resources.

Join us this week on the Explore Local Podcast as we join Jake Fausett, the Emergency Department Nurse Manager for Cedar City's Intermountain Health Hospital!
Today we're talking about about the hospitals recent expansion to the emergency department and imaging center. Finished in March of this year, the expansion increases the emergency department's capacity by adding 4,500 square feet, including 9 new emergency rooms, as well as upgraded molecular imaging services.

Congratulations to Clearway Energy in celebrating the ribbon cutting of the new Honeycomb Energy Center in Iron County this Wednesday. Senator John Curtis spoke at the celebration.

The Honeycomb Energy center is a battery energy storage portfolio that serves Iron and Beaver counties. Honeycomb’s innovative energy portfolio uses American made Tesla Industries equipment and includes four 80 megawatt storage systems able to deliver 1,280 megawatt-hours of power reserves to the region. The storage facilities are adjacent to a solar farm owned and operated by Clearway.

Clearway also made a $150,000 donation to Iron County Care and Share in support of a Tiny Home Village project that will provide invaluable housing resources to individuals transitioning out of homelessness. Local team members are also allocating an additional $40,000 every year of operations towards annual programming as well as donations to local causes.

The Honeycomb Energy Center represents a significant investment in the Cedar City and Iron County community by supporting efficient and stable operation of the grid, as well as providing economic opportunities through job growth, new revenue for public services, and long-term economic stability.
