Fridays from the Archives 📸

In 1984, the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah held its Restoration Gathering, commemorating the Tribe's restoration on April 3, 1980. Among the festivities was a parade through Main Street in Cedar City, Utah, centered on the theme: "Know Your Paiute Neighbor."

Over the next few Fridays, we'll be sharing photos from this event that capture a glimpse into our shared history. We invite community members to help us identify the people featured in these images. If you recognize someone, please share their names or your memories of the event in the comments.

Together, we can keep our community's history alive for future generations.

As a sidenote, today's photo shows a hoop dancer. Just a reminder that the Intermountain Hoop Dance competition is next Saturday, Sept. 12, at Red Butte Gardens and is free to tribal members. For more information, click here: https://pitu.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/PITU-1080x1080-1.png
