The heart of Stop & Serve was the incredible organizations who opened their doors, shared their missions, and invited us into the work they’re doing every day.

From supporting women and girls to strengthening families, serving neighbors, creating opportunities, and building a stronger community, these nonprofits are making an impact in so many different ways.

We’re grateful to the more than a dozen organizations who spent the afternoon with Women for Good, and to the 80 women who showed up ready to learn, lend a hand, and connect with the work happening right here in our community.

What happens when 80 women decide to spend an afternoon giving back?

A whole lot of good.

At Women for Good’s Stop & Serve event, volunteers stepped into the work of more than a dozen local nonprofits by lending their hands, learning their missions, and seeing firsthand the difference these organizations make in our communities.

From hands-on service projects to opportunities to learn, connect, and discover new ways to give, this event was a beautiful reminder that when women come together, the impact ripples far beyond the room.

A big thank you to the AFP Northeast Iowa Chapter for inviting two of our team members to be part of August's conversation about how marketing and fundraising go hand in hand!

Marketing and fundraising are closely connected, with storytelling, communication, and relationship-building playing an important role in helping organizations connect with their communities and donors.

Our VP of Marketing & Communications, Jake Byers, and Director of Marketing & Communications, Mikayla Fuchs, were grateful for the opportunity to share some of what we’ve learned in this work and to learn from fellow nonprofit professionals across Northeast Iowa.

Last Thursday, Women for Good gathered for our Stop & Serve volunteer event. It was a chance to give back while getting to know some of the local organizations making a difference for women and girls across the Cedar Valley.

Throughout the afternoon, members rotated between nonprofit tables, learning more about their work and helping with hands-on projects and tasks that support their missions.

It was a great reminder of the many ways our local nonprofits are supporting women and girls and how a little time and connection can go a long way.

Our team got a little creative during this morning’s Team Huddle!

Staff members brought flowers and greenery from their gardens to create beautiful arrangements together. It was a fun reminder of what community foundations are all about: everyone contributing something unique to create something greater than any one person could do alone.
