Welcome new Cedar Falls Officers Christopher Haislet and Taylor McNamara!

Officer Haislet is a graduate of Denver High School. He attended Hawkeye Community College, where he studied Police Science and earned the Jerry Greenlee scholarship. Officer Haislet served Cedar Falls as a Community Service Officer at Public Safety for more than two years while attending Hawkeye and also previously worked at the Bremer County Jail.

Officer McNamara is a graduate of Decorah High School. She worked in accounting, banking, and manufacturing before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, where she served as an Air Traffic Controller. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Upper Iowa University. Officer McNamara previously served in the Waterloo Police Department before joining Cedar Falls.

Join us in congratulating Cedar Falls Officer Stephanie Moore on her recent promotion to the rank of Lieutenant!

Lieutenant Moore has been with the Cedar Falls Police since January 2004. During her career, she has worked 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift patrol and served as a Code Enforcement Officer, Field Training Officer, and previously as a Crisis Negotiator. She has twice served as an Investigator in the Investigative Unit. Lieutenant Moore is Vice President of the Cedar Falls Protective Association. She has also been a member Focus Group, Labor Management Group, and served as a Union Steward.

Lieutenant Moore is an active member of the Iowa State Police Association (ISPA) and Iowa Association of Women Police (IaAWP). We thank her for her continued service and dedication to our community!

On Sunday, August 23, 2026, at approximately 4:32 p.m., Cedar Falls Public Safety Officers were dispatched to the intersection of 3rd Street/ Washington Street for a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Upon arrival, Officers came upon two vehicles disabled from the collision.

Two occupants of one vehicle were injured and transported by ambulance to Unity Point Hospital.

The driver of the second vehicle, Eric Wayne Olivarri, 47, from Waterloo, Iowa, was charged with Operating While Intoxicated (1st Offense), a Serious Misdemeanor. Olivarri was also issued a traffic citation for Failure to Obey a Stop Sign.

The accident is currently under investigation, and further charges are possible.

Cedar Falls Public Safety was assisted by Black Hawk County Dispatch, Mercy One Paramedics, and Rassmussen Towing.

16 youth recently participated in a two-day Youth Fire Academy. During the academy, participants learned about loss prevention tips from Brad Jacobson - State Farm Agent, calling 911 from Black Hawk Consolidated Communications Center, creating an escape plan, first aid, and the history of the fire service.
