A few weeks ago, some of our team traded the office for the classroom and headed to the Basic Economic Development Course, where we spent the week learning, connecting and sharpening the tools we use to help Cedar Hill grow.

From business attraction and retention to the many moving pieces that turn opportunities into real projects, we came back with plenty of notes, fresh ideas and an even greater appreciation for the work that happens behind the scenes in economic development.

A big thank you to Texas Economic Development Corporation and TEEX for a great course and for investing in the people doing this work across Texas!

There is something special about coming together as a community to raise a glass to what is next for Historic Downtown Cedar Hill! 🥂🎉

We celebrated the next phase of the Heart of the Hill and officially opened the temporary park at the Phillips Property at 104 S. Broad Street for community enjoyment while the City continues seeking the right development partner.

We also welcomed a special guest from the American Planning Association Texas Chapter, who revealed that the Heart of the Hill Downtown Action Plan has received an award, recognizing the community driven vision behind the future of downtown. 🏆

A meaningful highlight was honoring the Phillips family and presenting Robin Phillips with restored original letters from the former Phillips Lumber Yard signage. ❤️

The long-term vision includes opportunities for restaurants, retail, entertainment and open space.

14 YEARS AND COUNTING!

This week, the Cedar Hill Economic Development Corporation Board and staff were recognized by City Council for receiving the Texas Economic Development Council’s 2025 Economic Excellence Recognition.

The recognition is awarded to economic development organizations that demonstrate a strong commitment to professional development, training and overall organizational effectiveness.

And for our team, this marks the 14th consecutive year receiving this recognition!

We’re proud of the work happening behind the scenes to keep Cedar Hill moving forward and grateful to our EDC Board, City Council and partners who continue to support economic development in our community.
