There's nothing that bonds better than the prospect of shared sweat and sore bodies in the name of furthering our craft.

Yesterday, the crews of Station 211 and Station 213 met to train on Truck Company assignments, namely Search and Rescue tactics. Over the next month, our crews will be honing their skill as we prepare and formulate a new training regimen for our department, all in the name of bringing better service to the citizens of Cedar Hill.

Thank you to the crews for your dedication and efforts to better yourselves. And thank you to our friends at Midlothian Fire Department, as always, for the use of their training facilities.

🦺 Stay Safe on the Water This Summer! 🌊

The Cedar Hill Fire Department has stocked the Life Jacket Loaner Station at Cedar Hill State Park swim beach to help keep our community safe.

If you’re heading out on the water, please feel free to borrow a life jacket and return it when you’re finished so others can use it too.

Following the recent drowning at the park, we want to remind everyone that water safety is critical. Wearing a life jacket can save a life.

If you have gently used life jackets you’d like to donate, please drop them off at any Cedar Hill Fire Station. Your donation could help protect a family and prevent a tragedy.

💙 Borrow. Wear. Return.
💙 Donate if you can.
💙 Most importantly, be safe and enjoy the water responsibly.

Today's Public Service call on Trees Drive was a little....on brand today.

Engine 213 happened upon a downed tree after clearing another call and went to work getting it out of the way.

Wait wait wait, I thought of a better one:

Captain's report reads "Trees Drive found to have tree in it." "Well, I sure hope so!"

More shots from this week's Engine Ops Regional Training.

Our Regional Training partners include DeSoto, Duncanville, and Lancaster Fire Departments, with a training ground graciously provided by our friends at Midlothian Fire.

Our cadre of instructors are taking our crews through exercises related to quick hose deployment, and flowing and moving charged hose lines. This training ensures our crews are utilizing the most current tactics when it comes to fighting fire. When our adversary is aggressive, we can't afford not to be.

Last Tuesday, our Cedar Hill Honor Guard had the honor of attending the Celebration of Life for Wilbert Lee "Red" Colquitt.

Red Colquitt served in the Dallas Fire Department, starting in 1956 as the first 18-year-old hired by the department, eventually attaining the rank of Captain in the Department of Public Relations before retiring.

In 1975, he stepped into a full-time role as the director of the Mount Lebanon Baptist Camp here in Cedar Hill, where the camp grew in facilities and attendance under his leadership. In later years, he attained other leadership positions, such as Director of Evangelism and Camp Ministry for the Tennessee Baptist Convention in Memphis, Tennessee, and Executive Director of Tarrant Baptist Encampment, now known as Riverbend Retreat Center.

Our Honor Guard members, including Honor Guard Commander Engineer Adam Whitney, Firefighters Bryan Harrell and Dylan Fussell, as well as LaFrance Operator Firefighter Chris Bullard, attended the ceremony with members of the Dallas Fire Department, both active and Retired Honor Guard.

We extend our sincerest condolences and prayers to Captain Colquitt's family and friends.
