There were 75 firehouses in which at least one member was killed. The FDNY also lost its department chief, first deputy commissioner, one of its marshals, one of its chaplins, as well as other administrative or specialty personnel.
On 9-11, 121 engine companies, 62 ladder companies and 27 fire officers were deployed to the world trade center. All off-duty firefighters were recalled — the first time the FDNY had issued a total recall in over 30 years. In addition to the regular fire apparatus, and personnel assigned to the incident, the FDNY also deployed its only Haz-Mat unit, its mobile command center, its field communications unit, all its five rescue units, both of its high-rise units, six of its seven squad units, and one of its two tactical support units.
343 of New York's Bravest lost their lives that day. May they all rest in peace.
And may we all

Today the Cedar Hill Fire Department laid to rest our retired brother, David King. David was a native son of Cedar Hill and joined the CHFD in 1977 as a volunteer. In 1988, he was sworn in as a paid firefighter. David was among the first paid firefighters in Cedar Hill. David proudly served our great city for over 32 years. David’s influence can be felt in our department to this day. We pray for the family he left behind and we pray that our fire family will always honor his memory.

COVID-19 myth busted! Just because there are breakthrough cases doesn't mean the vaccine isn't working.

No vaccine is perfect, and COVID-19 vaccines are powerfully effective against the virus and its variants. Full vaccination protects nearly all from hospitalization and death. #HealthyTexas

CHFD EMS crews received some special recognition from Methodist Mansfield ER for contributing to a very speedy patient contact to balloon time during a heart attack call. This is the total amount of time elapsed from when we first arrive and meet our patient until the cardiologists in the cath lab are able to reopen the blocked vessel. Great job guys! 🚑🏥🎈

If y’all don’t think that the actual Fire Marshal and the actual police CHIEF will pay you a visit after popping those fireworks…..let me tell you. Put those plans in reverse Terry 😉.
Seriously be safe and stay out of trouble y’all! Have a happy 4th! 😁 👨‍🚒

All on duty officers, the Fire Marshall and Police supervisors will be actively driving around the city to look for these violations. Last year on July 4th we received 88 calls to 911 to report fireworks. It is very difficult to catch people in the act. In the last 3 years, we have only issued 3 violations. We hope that a higher visible presence will be a deterrent. Please be patient as we do our best to keep our community safe. You can report fireworks violations to our non emergency number at dispatch 972-223-6111.

The Cedar Hill Fire Department July 4th Fireworks Public Safety Announcement

The Cedar Hill Fire Department Marshal’s Office strongly urges residents not to fire fireworks of any type (consumer or commercial grade) during this year’s 4th of July Celebration.

Each July 4th, thousands of people, most often children and teens, are injured while using consumer fireworks. Despite the dangers of fireworks, few people understand the associated risks - devastating burns, other injuries, fires, and even death.
Fireworks are often used to mark special events and holidays. The only safe way to view fireworks is to attend a professional show. With many professional firework shows being canceled this year, it is important to know that fireworks are not safe in the hands of consumers. Fireworks cause thousands of injuries each year

The Cedar Hill Fire Department and the Cedar Hill Police Department will be out enforcing the City’s fireworks ordinance. The current City Ordinance prohibits the possession and use of fireworks in and about the City limits.

Any violation of the City of Cedar Hill’s City Ordinance carries a fine of $2,000.00 per occurrence.

This last week my mother-in-law passed away at her home. We called 911 and the Cedar Hill Fire Dept. and Police Dept. we’re disbursed to the scene. We could not have asked to be treated with more respect and comfort than these guys showed. As is typical, in the heat of the moment I didn’t capture your names, but please know the family of Betty Pogue took notice and was very appreciative! It reinforced my feelings that we have the best community servants of any place in the area. Thank you again!
