Officer Alexis Dills #53 received a Lifesaving Award today at the District 1 Law Enforcement Council award ceremony. On July 10th, 2025, Officer Dills was instrumental in saving two lives during the same shift.

On 05/13/2026, the Cedar Lake Police Department honored Sgt. William Fisher #29 with a plaque for 28 years of Loyal and Dedicated Service.

Sgt. Fisher will retire from the Cedar Lake Police Department on his last official working day, May 29th, 2026.

Sgt. Fisher has served in many roles over his 28 years, most notably as Chief of Police. As Chief, he served honorably for four years, working hard for his officers to obtain and sustain growth and new positions within.

Chief Fisher brought back the K9 program, worked hard to add members to the Regional SWAT, and was instrumental in starting the South County Crash and Reconstruction Team. Chief Fisher had many other accomplishments during his time as Chief and faced as many hardships.

Sgt. Fisher has spent his entire adult life dedicated to the Town of Cedar Lake, even before joining the Police Department. His dedication has touched many lives in many capacities.

Sgt. Fisher will be missed, we wish him well in his retirement.
