Sharing on behalf of the Lake County Assessor's Office:

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the August 11th storms.
If your property was damaged, it may qualify for reassessment under Form 137R.
What it does: Updates your assessed value to reflect storm damage to your home or property.
Who qualifies: Real and personal property — homes, structures, and business personal property (Forms 102/103) affected by the August 11th storms.
What to know before you file:
1️⃣ File within 12 months of the disaster (late filings still considered)
2️⃣ A physical inspection of your property is required
3️⃣ Total losses can reduce improvement value to $0 — land value stays the same
4️⃣ Bring photos, repair estimates, insurance claims, or news coverage
5️⃣ You must file & sign the petition yourself — the office can't file on your behalf
6️⃣ If you disagree with the outcome, you have the right to appeal
