It's that time of year again folks!!!! Business owners: Keep an eye out for Town Staff (aka TFT Elves) delivering boxes to your business. Once the boxes are distributed, a list will be posted of all the participating local businesses. We will be visiting all of our participating businesses soon.

Citizens: Drop off a new, unwrapped toy in any of the boxes or at Town Hall. The Marines will once again be in attendance at our December 15, 2020 Board of Commissioners Christmas meeting to collect all the toys. Last year's count was over 3000 toys, so let's see if we can break that record this year!

If you didn't have a box at your business location last year, contact Town Hall if you would like a box this year!!!

***This post contains updated information concerning the new trash cans. Please read!***

We have received several questions here at Town Hall concerning the new trash can drop off and I hope to answer most of them below:

Q: When can we expect our new cans to be delivered?
A: Delivery of these cans began today and it is expected that all cans will be delivered by the end of the week.

Q: What do we do with our old cans?
A: Beginning next Wednesday (9/23), as part of the normal trash collection, GFL will pick up and dispose of any non-GFL trash can that is bearing a Town provided sticker which is clearly visible to the driver. These stickers have been ordered and should be available from Town Hall beginning Monday (9/21).

Q: What do I do with my rented trash can?
A: If you are renting your trash can, leave it empty alongside the new can and it will be removed as part of next Wednesday’s trash collection process. Please contact GFL for rental refund information at 252-223-4176.

Q: Will we also be given new recycle cans?
A There will be no new recycle bins issued at this time. Residents may use their old trash cans as recycle bins, provided they are clearly marked as RECYCLE.

Q: Will we be charged extra for these new cans?
A: There is no extra charge for these cans. They were offered as an incentive for the Town to renew its waste collection contract with GFL.

Q: How do I pay for my trash and recycling service?
A: Each residence receiving Town provided trash services is entitled to use of one (1) GFL trash can for this next contract period (3 years). The cost of this Trash service is paid as part of your property tax bill from Carteret County and shows up as “Cedar Point Trash Fee”. The annual fee is $175. If you decide you need a second trash can, please contact Town Hall to arrange for a second can. The annual cost is $175 for any additional cans.

Q: I just purchased a new trash can just a few months ago. Will I be reimbursed for this purchased can?
A: These new trash cans were an offering from GFL based on the Town’s extension of the contract with them. Unfortunately, there will be no reimbursement for any individually purchased trash cans.

Q: Are we required to use these new trash cans for our weekly trash?
A: Yes, you must use these new cans for your trash. The drivers will be instructed not to collect any trash not contained within the new GFL provided trash cans. If you do not use the new cans, they will not collect your trash.

09/15/2020

Dear Cedar Point Residents:

Beginning today, new trash cans will be distributed to those residents receiving trash pickup in the Town. This process should be completed by the end of the week.

These cans will remain the property of GFL but are provided for your convenience.

Once the cans are fully distributed, GFL will ONLY pick up trash from these new cans, which will simplify the trash collection process even further. Residents are encouraged to continue using the blue cans for recycling.

Should your trash can become broken or damaged, GFL will repair or replace it at no charge, however, the property owner is responsible for the cost of any trash can that is removed from the property. Property owners paying for a second can will be receiving that second can as well in this process.

If you have any questions, please call Town Hall at 252-393-7898 or email [email protected].

Town of Cedar Point will NOT be offering debris pick up for this storm. After several drives through Town, staff has determined that Cedar Point has fared very well through Isaias, thank goodness! The convenience site located off of Highway 58 at Firetower Road is open and accepts yard waste.
