The Veterans Memorial Commission is responsible for the management, development, operation and maintenance of the Veterans Memorial Building, the Memorial Stadium (Kernels), and All Veterans Memorial Park. Swing in to see the magnificent stained glass piece by Grant Wood titled, "Memorial Window." Two military themed galleries/display also open to the public. Horsky Collection of Model Airplanes also on view: take elevator to the 4th floor.

This 4th of July let's highlight the evolution of Grant Wood's "Memorial Window" Revolutionary Soldier.

Images from left to right: Charles M. Lefferts illustration from an important 1926 publication. Next, Wood's sketch of Lefferts illustration with his notes. Then, the model for Revolutionary Soldier, our own CR Washington High School football star, and former art student of Wood, Robert Evans. Followed by the drawing of Evans as an American Revolutionary soldier. Finally, the finished glass scene as it stands in the Memorial Lobby today.
