Buzzards Glory Balloon Company, LLC has been operating in the Cedar Rapids for over 37 years. A hot air balloon ride lasts approximately one hour. Flights are in the morning about sunrise and late afternoon about two hours before sunset, weather permitting. Your ballooning experience usually takes about two hours, including launch, flight, recovery and returning to the launch field. It only takes

about ten/fifteen minutes and you are gently lifting off to begin a magical experience. History and Information about the Pilots:
Peter O. Stamats took his first ride in a hot air balloon in 1974 and he was hooked. He bought a balloon, took lessons and then got his license, all in that order. He started Buzzards Glory Balloon Company in the fall of 1974. Ten years later, Peter taught his wife, Susan, to fly and their balloons were seen floating together over Cedar Rapids on most perfect days. Although Peter passed away in December of 2003, Susan still continues to fly. Pilot Susan Stamats is a commercial licensed balloon pilot. With over 2100 hours. Susan has been flying the skies in the Cedar Rapids area for over 27 years. She has trained pilots for both private and commercial licenses and also sells balloons. During the summer months, Susan divides her time between flying the skies of Eastern Iowa and balloon competitions throughout the country. Ballooning has taken Susan to 17 states, Mexico, France, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Watch for Susan flying Guaranty Bank. Susan’s longest flight was one hundred miles, taking four hours. The amazing thing was the chase crew, after traveling 230 miles, was there when the balloon landed. The highest she’s ever been is 18,500 feet. She flew over the Continental Divide, over the Rocky Mountains. Buzzards Glory has a new balloon, Cost Cutters, it's red, white and black and usually flies with Guaranty Bank. You'll see these balloons flying in the early morning hours and later in the early evening on beautiful sunny days with light winds.

We patiently waited for the winds to die last night and were rewarded. Ended up doing a training flight with Chris! Great crew and mascot, Miss Maggie!

We had to wait for weather to improve but were rewarded with a flight last night! Maggie met some new fans! Great crew! Great passengers! Great flight!

After an excruciating slow start to ballooning in the Cedar Rapids area we had four flights this past week. The skies are hazy from smoke from the Canadian wild fires. Some nights it’s worse than others.
Maggie is happy to be back into her ballooning routine.

Another successful flight in Natchez this morning. Chris and I both threw all three bags at the targets, flew across the Mississippi again and landed at the Vidalia, LS airport! Very successful event including Thursday night glow and Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning flights! Fabulous Crew!❤️We’re tired but happy. Heading home! Thanks to Natchez for their hospitality! Maggie thanks all the many many people that gave her pets. 🐕😘

Saturday morning flight in Natchez. Best sponsor, Ginger and Tom Schwager! Great launch site. Great landing! Great crew! Chris & I launched together and landed about 100’ apart at the Vidalia airport! Saw the target! It was a speedy fly by! The two Maggies were reunited once again!

Natchez, Friday morning! Launched in Natchez. Chris and I both flew across the Mississippi and landed in Vidalia, LA. Beautiful morning with the Hunter’s moon still visible! Jan flew with me so of course it was a bit sporty aloft. Nice gentle landing. Thanks to my fabulous crew! And, of course Maggie!

Tuesday night, two balloons flying. Mike flew with Chris and Kevin flew with me. Cole was fabulous, organized his dad to be there when we landed on their property in the 6’ tall grasses. Fortunately there was a mowed trail for deflating the balloon. Thanks to fabulous crew. And, maggie! Our inspiration.
