Cedar Rapids Police Make Several Arrests Following Car Chase and Weapons Display

Cedar Rapids, IA – At approximately 7:38p.m. on Sunday, August 23, Cedar Rapids police responded to numerous 911 calls regarding two vehicles engaged in a chase and possible displays of weapons in the 1500 block of 8th St SW. Officers located two vehicles, one of which had run off the road, and both with damage. There were multiple people involved and witnesses described one driver running their vehicle into the other, forcing it to hit a tree.
Following interviews and investigation, several people were arrested and transported to the Linn County Jail.
Jaylan Bentley, age 26, of Cedar Rapids
-Child Endangerment
-One-Way Traffic violation
-No Valid Driver's License
-Reckless Driving.
Lamya Wright, age 27, of Cedar Rapids
-Child Endangerment
Lawrence Jefferson, age 30, of Matteson, IL
-Intimidation with a Weapon
-Outstanding Warrant
Lamonra O'Neal, age 25, of Matteson, IL
-Child Endangerment
-Obstruction of Prosecution
-Failure to Use Child Safety Restraints
-One-Way Traffic violation
-Reckless Driving
There is an ongoing investigation into this incident.
