Chautauqua/Elk County Safe Streets 4 All Survey Meeting
Thursday, August 20, 2026 - Chautauqua County Court House, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Mr. Pink attended the Safe Streets 4 All survey meeting and learned the State of Kansas has a state grant for cities under the Safe Streets 4 All that will be released in early 2027. This survey meeting is the last meeting and the survey will be open for another 2 - 3 weeks.

The survey is for getting input from counties and cities on what areas of safety need to be addressed in their county and cities. The focus of this work is for rural communities and not large cities. The final version of the plan will implement all survey information to the safety task force.

Counties are encouraged to work together on a plan or with another county as well as have individual city plans. Once the plan is completed, there will be a need for someone to run the program.

Mr. Pink completed a survey and highlighted the lack of sidewalks (safety issue), narrow streets (safety issue) and the Marsh Truss Bridge, Old Highway 166 East of Cedar Vale.
