And today we say Happy Anniversary to our Chief! Fire Chief Andy Doornbos started at Cedar Area Fire & Rescue as Assistant Chief in 2018, and in 2021 was appointed to the position of Fire Chief. He has led the department through numerous improvements in the last five years, including our upgrade to Advanced Life Support status, the addition of three new full-time staff positions, and the continued updating of our equipment fleet. He is a mentor and friend to many in the local fire service, and we are honored to have him serving here at Cedar as our Chief. Please join us in saying Happy Anniversary to Chief Doornbos when you see him out and about in the community!

What an incredible Saturday!!!

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who came out to our Open House. Looking around and seeing so many neighbors, friends, and families spending their weekend with us was truly moving.

Events like this remind us how lucky we are to be a part of such a tight-knit, supportive community. Getting the opportunity to chat, share what we do, answer your questions, and connect with each of you one-on-one is what it’s all about. Every smile, high-five, and conversation meant the world to our entire team.

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to show up for us. You are the heart of everything we do, and we’re so proud to serve and stand alongside this community every day.

This month, we also say Happy Anniversary to Lieutenant Kevin Mikowski! Lt. Mikowski is our longest-serving member of the department, having started as a volunteer in 1997! In addition to being a FF/EMT-B, Lt. Mikowski also manages our apparatus fleet, ensuring that all of our vehicles have the maintenance and inspections needed to remain road-worthy and ready for response. Please join us in saying Happy Anniversary to Lt. Mikowski when you see him out in the community!

Emergency dispatch reported a sticky, fluffy situation at Station 8. Upon arrival, we discovered a suspect completely covered in pink and blue fluff. 🚨

We can neither confirm nor deny the presence of a cotton candy machine at our Open House... but you might want to bring your sweet tooth just to be safe.
