The Cedaredge Police Department is a full service law enforcement agency with 9 dedicated employees organized into Administration, Patrol, Investigations, Animal Control, and Code Enforcement. The Cedaredge Police Department has received accreditation from its peers by earning the Professional Standards Compliance Award, which recognizes outstanding Police and

Sheriff’s Departments throughout Colorado. There are 232 law enforcement agencies in Colorado and only 35 of these agencies are accredited. MISSION STATEMENT

The Town of Cedaredge Public Works Department is looking for qualified candidates for:
Maintenance Worker I
Hourly Pay Range:
$19.31-$25.99/hour depending on experience and qualifications.
General statement of duties:
Town of Cedaredge has various facilities that require maintenance. The Maintenance Workers I/II are positions in the Public Works Department intended to assist with maintaining the Towns facilities and infrastructure in a variety of ways. This position is a general laborer.

Maintenance Worker II
Hourly Pay Range:
$22.60 - $30.41 per hour depending on experience, qualifications, certifications, and licenses.
General Statement of Duties:
The Maintenance Worker II is a skilled, journey-level position within the Public Works Department responsible for the construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of Town facilities and infrastructure. This position performs a variety of maintenance, utility, equipment operation, and construction-related duties with limited supervision and may serve as lead worker on assigned projects. Maintenance Worker II is distinguished from Maintenance Worker I by the ability to independently perform skilled maintenance and repair work, operate heavy equipment, obtain required utility certifications, and provide leadership on assigned projects.

‼️RED FLAG WARNING – Critical Fire Weather Wednesday, May 13th – NO BURNING‼️

The US National Weather Service Grand Junction Colorado has issued a Red Flag weather warning for Delta County.

Delta County is expected to have gusty winds up to 45 mph with low relative humidity as low as 9% which creates critical fire weather and can cause rapid wildfire growth.

Per Delta County Ordinance 2024-2, when the National Weather Service issues a Red Flag warning, there is NO OPEN BURNING ALLOWED.

Please help stop any fires in Delta County from starting today by NOT burning. Report any fires to 9-1-1 or Delta County Dispatch at 970-874-2015.

It is with deep sorrow that the Adams County Sheriff’s Office announces the passing of Commander Karl Smalley. On the morning of Dec. 8, 2025, deputies responded to a report of a missing person in Watkins. Upon arrival, deputies found Commander Smalley near Box Elder Creek. He was not breathing and was later pronounced deceased. Commander Smalley had just started his day and was on-duty at the time, and his passing is being treated as a line of duty death.

Commander Smalley, 67, honorably served the Adams County Sheriff’s Office for more than 30 years. He is survived by his wife. At the time of his passing, Commander Smalley served as the Commander of District 5, overseeing the Watkins and Strasburg areas. Throughout his distinguished career, he led several key programs, including the Explorer Post, Posse, Reserve Program, and Mobile Field Force, was heavily involved with the Rampart Search and Rescue Team and was a subject matter expert for driving instruction. His leadership, dedication, and influence were felt across the agency and the community.

Beyond his professional achievements, Commander Smalley was widely known as a kind, genuine, and compassionate individual. He was a devoted husband, a trusted colleague, and a dear friend to many. His warm presence and unwavering commitment to serving others left an enduring impact on the countless people who had the privilege of knowing him.

Commander Smalley’s contributions to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and the community will forever be remembered. He will be deeply missed.

The family is requesting privacy at this time. More information on his funeral services will be released at a later date.
