Fish Creek Community this is the current conditions of your local Volunteer Fire Dept. After serving the community for almost 10 years and the last 4 as Captain of Station 6 before leaving in 2021 today I feel obligated to inform you that there’s only now 3 active members only one of the three lives inside the Station 6 District. One certified firefighter, one registered Volunteer and one that has to renew his certification responding to your emergency now because the Lieutenant of the station was confronted for voicing his opinion and following the chain of command to get an issue resolved. After being confronted felt that it would be in his best interest to move to a neighboring station. The acting Captain and non certified firefighter will bring the emergency vehicle to your house and do what can be done from exterior don’t expect any interior activities to be done. With recent events even if your family member is inside the structure with the attic on fire will stand and wait for Automatic aid from Rockmart Fire to get on-scene to remove the victim from the house or from hearing recent complaint from other member of the Polk County Fire Department just stand there as firefighter from other stations show up to do all the work. But don’t take my word for it. Training night are the 1st and 3rd Thursday at 7pm and 1st and 3rd Sunday at 2pm of every month feeling free to stop by and see the Station and ask questions about what certifications they have.
