Whether you're planting a tree, building a fence, or putting in a new mailbox, always contact 811 before you pick up a shovel. Underground utility lines—like gas, water, and electricity—can be much shallower than you think.

Hitting a line isn't just a headache; it’s dangerous and can lead to expensive repairs or service outages for the whole neighborhood.

How it works:

Notify: Call 811 or visit your state's 811 website a few days before you start.

Wait: Give utilities time to mark their lines.

Confirm: Check that all lines have been marked.

Dig Carefullly: Avoid digging near the marks.

Let’s keep Cedarville safe! 🚒

Risk Level Definitions

Risk levels are determined by fuel conditions, drought status, and long-term weather forecasts. They are categorized by how easily fires can start and how hard they are to contain. The risk level definitions are:

Low: Fuels do not ignite easily. Weather conditions will lead to slow spread and relatively easy to control fires.

Moderate: Fire can start from accidental causes. May not become serious, but caution should be taken.

High: Fires ignite easily and spread quickly. Unattended brush fires and campfires are likely to escape. Fires may become serious if not attacked early.

Extreme: Fires start quickly, spread furiously, and burn intensely. Every fire started has the potential to become large. Expect extreme, erratic behavior.

Today, Cedarville Fire and Rescue participated in extraction training, where every individual had the opportunity to operate the new extraction tools. The session was divided into two parts, with a lunch break in between. During lunch, Assistant Chief Roger Johnson grilled hot dogs, courtesy of Mayor Pinkerton, who also provided buns and sodas. The afternoon session focused on cutting vehicles, further solidifying the team's proficiency in extraction techniques.
