Les Cheneaux Community Library, a Superior District Library About Les Cheneaux Community Library (LCCL), a Superior District Library. LCCL is a member of Superior District Library. Your library staff welcomes you.

The Les Cheneaux Library was built in 2003 through the work of a committed group of volunteers and the generosity of many in our region. Our beautiful library is a true reflection of the unique character of the Les Cheneaux area. The log cabin structure features a quiet reading room with a fireplace, computer lab, wireless internet, wrap-around porch, comfortable furnishings, murals and stained glass by local artisans, and a meeting room with a large screen for media presentations. Funding from a small millage, penal fines, and donations cover the day-to-day costs of running the library, including staff salaries, internet, interlibrary loans, books, and other materials. Friends of LCCL provide maintenance of building and grounds, including utilities, insurance, cleaning, landscaping, snow removal, and trash removal. The library has over 2,500 members and houses a collection of over 19,000 titles. In 2013, patrons accessed our wireless network over 6,000 times and over 13,000 items were checked out. Donations comprise a portion of our budget and the Friends of LCCL's budget. The generosity of our patrons is greatly appreciated. What’s in the Works for LifeLong Learners:

Dear Lifelong Learners,

Our last session was a documentary that explored Ayn Rand and her philosophy of Objectivism. The participants were very interested and left a desire to pursue more.

Next Tuesday’s class on the 29th, will explore a lecture by Leonard Peikoff, a close associate of Ayn Rand.

The title of the talk: An Introduction to Objectivism by Leonard Peikoff | 1995.

This 75-minute lecture by Leonard Peikoff is a brief introduction to the philosophy of Objectivism. Following the lecture, Dr. Peikoff answers questions from the students. (Recorded in 1995.) Leonard Peikoff

A request was made to present something from Robin Wall Kimmerer.

We will list that choice in next week’s email. The presentation will be on November 3rd.
