Thanks to everyone who came out for the open house yesterday! Now we shift our focus to the upcoming National Fallen Firefighter Memorial which will be held this Sunday, May 3rd. We will join in honoring our very own, Luke Gehlhausen, along with over 200 other firefighters from across the country who have passed away in the line of duty in recent years. One way you can join in honoring these firefighters here locally is by displaying a red light outside your home or business this week as part of the Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters leading up to the memorial on Sunday.

Tonight marks the beginning of a powerful nationwide tribute.
From April 26 through May 3, we invite you to take part in Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters by shining a red light on your home, fire station, business, or community landmark.
This simple act creates a meaningful symbol of remembrance and unity—honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.
Together, we can illuminate the nation in honor of our fallen heroes.

We took advantage of the nice weather Monday evening to do some extrication training during our monthly meeting. Training at hours after daylight when accidents commonly requiring extrication is important so that we can brush up on our skills in real world environments!

Tonight is the night! Doors open at 5pm to begin taking boards for the shooting match. 1st choice is a 1/2 beef and Sanders gift certificate, 2nd choice is 1/2 beef, with beef and pork choices thereafter. The kitchen will then open at 6pm with plenty of food options to include fried chicken, so come hungry!
You still have time to turn in raffle tickets as well with the drawing being held at 9pm. Our raffle would not be possible without the long list of local organizations who donate towards it, so please be sure to patronize them if you need local services or while shopping local! See you tonight at the Celestine Community Club!

We at CVFD would like to express our sincere condolences to the families of Donnie Sander and Gary Hasenour who will both be laid to rest in the coming days. Both of these individuals were the epitome of volunteerism and have helped shape the community of Celestine into what it is today. The absence of these two individuals will be felt for years, but the impressions they’ve left will last even longer.
Donnie was one of our founding members and appointed as our Personal Relations representative in 1980 which is quite fitting for those who knew Donnie. He was also a big proponent in pushing to establish the EMS and first responder program within our department and was one of the first to be certified.
Gary, while not an official member of the department, was not a stranger to helping us out in so many aspects as he was to pretty much every other organization within the community. Whether it was at one of our annual fund raisers or one of our building projects he was sure to be there.
Thank you to Donnie and Gary for all you’ve done, RIP!

We hope everyone is well prepared for the incoming snow and ready for the potential significant amounts! CVFD now has a favor of all resident in our area. If you are aware of a fire hydrant on or near your property, it would be greatly appreciated if you would assist by clearing snow from around the hydrant to ensure quick access when seconds matter! The next best way you can help us is by avoiding non-essential travel to allow road crews to concentrate on clearing the roads through the night and throughout the day tomorrow. Stay safe and stay warm!
