CASA volunteers advocated for children during a time when it can be difficult to thrive, move forward, or simply turn on the light. With training and awareness of each child’s unique needs, volunteers can ignite a spark that helps children find the strength and light within – ✨so they can shine!✨ We are looking to add more people to the next training group. If you are interested in obtaining more information about becoming a CASA, please visit our website at https://www.mercercountycasa.org. There is an online application that can be printed off. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us via email at [email protected].

NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR CASA OF MERCER COUNTY!

On April 15, 2022, Judge Matthew L. Gilmore and Magistrate Richard M. Delzeith welcomed Andrea King as the new Executive Director of the CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates) of Mercer County Program. Ms. King replaces the recently retired Nick Schulze and Kip Wright. Judge Gilmore stated, “This program would not be where it is at today if were not for Nick and Kip’s hard work. Nick and Kip’s dedication to helping the children of Mercer County is unparalleled. I know that Andrea will continue to lead this program in the right direction to help the vulnerable children of Mercer County.”

Ms. King comes to the CASA of Mercer County Program with an extensive background in social work and helping children. Ms. King graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. Ms. King became a licensed social worker in 2007, and she is currently working as a school-based mental health therapist at Piqua High School.

The CASA of Mercer County Executive Director trains and prepares the CASA volunteers to advocate for abused, neglected, and/or dependent children of Mercer County. The CASA volunteer, as soon as they are assigned to a child, will learn as much as they can about the child and their environment in order to know what is in that child’s best interest. It is a CASA volunteer’s goal to help the child emerge from the trauma or abuse and neglect, and be placed in a safe environment where they can thrive.
