Clay County Leaders Attend Rural Health Transformation Forum to Explore Healthcare Expansion

Clay County leaders recently traveled to Nashville to participate in the Tennessee Rural Health Transformation Forum as part of an ongoing effort to improve healthcare access for local residents.
Clay County Mayor Dale Reagan, EMS Director Andy Hall, and Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Dr. Doug Young attended the forum hosted by State Representative Kelly Keisling of Tennessee's 38th District and representatives from the Tennessee Department of Health. The event brought together healthcare leaders, state officials, and community representatives from across Tennessee to discuss strategies for strengthening healthcare services in rural communities.
A primary focus for Clay County Officials at this forum was identifying grant opportunities that could support expanded healthcare services in Clay County. Conversations centered on the potential for a future partnership with Livingston Regional Hospital to increase access to medical care for county residents. Discussions also included potential grant funding for rural EMS services in Clay County, specifically for the purchase of a new ambulance.
The long-term vision includes expanding healthcare services within Clay County, includes enhanced outpatient and urgent care services, while working toward the possibility of establishing a standalone emergency department. Such a partnership would provide residents with greater access to quality medical care closer to home and help reduce travel times for emergency and non-emergency healthcare needs.
In addition to improving access to healthcare, expanding medical services would strengthen economic development efforts by making Clay County more attractive to families, businesses, and future investment.
The Rural Health Transformation Forum provided local leaders with valuable information on available state and federal grant opportunities, successful rural healthcare partnerships, and innovative approaches being implemented throughout Tennessee. The knowledge gained during the forum will help guide future planning as Clay County continues working with Livingston Regional Hospital, the Tennessee Department of Health, state leaders, and other partners to pursue funding opportunities and develop a long-term strategy for expanding healthcare services.
County leaders remain committed to exploring every available opportunity to improve healthcare access and ensure that the citizens of Clay County have access to high-quality medical services for years to come.
