Clay County EMS is proud to announce its participation in a state-funded workforce apprenticeship initiative through Workforce Connections, providing educational funding assistance for five of its employees to advance their careers in Emergency Medical Services.
Through this program, Haley C***s is currently pursuing Paramedic certification. Hailey Mull and Everett Benjamin are enrolled in Advanced EMT programs. Emma Coil and Hailey Mullins have successfully completed their Advanced EMT certification through this initiative.
The Workforce Connections apprenticeship initiative is part of a broader regional effort to strengthen the healthcare workforce by supporting “earn while you learn” training opportunities. These programs combine hands-on experience with structured classroom education, allowing participants to advance their certifications while continuing to serve their communities.
Funding for these apprenticeships is made possible through state and regional workforce development efforts designed to address critical staffing shortages in healthcare and emergency services. Workforce Connections supports apprenticeship programs across the Upper Cumberland region, helping employers reduce training costs while developing skilled, long-term employees.
“This program is a tremendous opportunity not only for our employees but for the citizens we serve,” said Andy Hall, EMS Director. “By investing in the education and advancement of our staff, we are strengthening the future of EMS in Clay County and ensuring our community continues to receive high-quality emergency care.”
Apprenticeship programs such as this are supported through the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development and are recognized as a proven workforce strategy, offering structured training, career advancement, and nationally recognized credentials while helping meet the growing demand for skilled EMS providers.
Clay County EMS remains committed to professional development, recruitment, and retention of highly trained personnel. Partnerships with Workforce Connections and Apprenticeship Tennessee continue to play a key role in building a stronger, more resilient EMS workforce for the region.
